From Geometry to Function: Programmable Mechanical Response in 3D‐Printed Adipose‐Inspired Soft Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven design of soft cellular metamaterials is systematically investigated by combining experiments, finite element modeling, and statistical prediction. The study quantifies how unit cell geometry and material properties govern stiffness, instability, densification, and energy absorption.

KINEMATIC PROPERTIES AND MESHING CONDITION OF ELLIPTICAL GEAR TRAIN

open access: yesScientific Journal of Silesian University of Technology. Series Transport, 2019
This paper presents the concept of eccentric elliptical gear train able to generate a variable gear ratio law. The first step in the noncircular gears virtua design process is the generation of the conjugate pitch curves, starting from a predesigned law of motion for the driven element or a predesigned geometry for the driving gear pitch curve.

Bio‐Inspired Biopolymeric Implantable Platform for Localized and Sustained Drug Delivery in Solid Tumor Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A bio‐inspired biopolymeric implantable drug delivery platform enables localized and sustained release of 7‐ethyl‐10‐hydroxycamptothecin (SN‐38) in solid tumor treatment. The three‐dimensional (3D) structured crosslinked‐chitosan implants are fabricated via 3D‐printed molds and provide drug release over 3 months, significantly inhibiting tumor growth ...

Mineral Deposition From Liquid Precursors Triggered by Complementary Polyelectrolytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Polyelectrolyte additives can delay or prevent crystal nucleation in supersaturated solutions of insoluble mineral salts such as calcium carbonate. This work reports that adding a second, oppositely‐charged polyelectrolyte leads to immediate mineral crystallization from such metastable solutions.

Sampling balanced high-quality data to train an automatic mesh generator

open access: yesArtificial Intelligence for Engineering Design, Analysis and Manufacturing
Abstract In real-world scenarios, high-quality data are often scarce and imbalanced, yet it is essential for the optimal performance of data-driven algorithmic models. Data synthesis methods are commonly used to address this issue; however, they typically rely heavily on the original dataset, which limits their ability to ...

A 3D Human Neuron‐on‐Chip Platform to Monitor Neuronal Injury Responses

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel 3D Neuron‐on‐Chip model that can maintain human PSC‐derived excitatory prefrontal cortex neurons in 3D hydrogels and can be used to monitor neuronal injury responses over time. Results show injury‐induced acute neuronal excitotoxicity, declining neuronal connectivity, and the activation of a neurodegenerative, SASP‐like ...

Simulation-based training in laparoscopic urology – Pros and cons

open access: yesIndian Journal of Urology, 2018
Surgery is traditionally taught by using Halsteadian principle, which includes “see one, do one, teach one”. This principle relies on sheer volume of surgical exposure rather than a specific course structure.
