A Human Neural Tube Model Using 4D Self‐Folding Smart Scaffolds

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) exhibit features comparable to the inner cell mass of the human embryo. iPSCs are applied to a novel self‐folding 4D‐Neural Tube (4D‐NT) structure that mimics the neurulation process. This 4D‐NT model recapitulates early events of human neural development and represents a platform to explore neurodevelopmental ...

Recombinant Proteins: A Molecular Tool to Understand Marine Adhesion and to Advance Biomaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The production of recombinant proteins represents a fundamental step in the characterisation of marine invertebrate adhesives and in the development of bio‐inspired glues. The association of these proteins with other components such as ions, proteins, polysaccharides, or polymers enables the fabrication of biomaterials for various healthcare ...

The influence of sample size and sampling design on estimating population‐level intra specific trait variation (ITV) along environmental gradients

open access: yesEcology and Evolution
Understanding the relationship between intraspecific trait variability (ITV) and its biotic and abiotic drivers is crucial for advancing population and community ecology.

Development of a Synthetic 3D Platform for Compartmentalized Kidney In Vitro Disease Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A fully synthetic, compartmentalized 3D kidney disease model is introduced. The kidney model combines a PEG‐based hydrogel matrix with anisotropic, enzymatically degradable rod‐shaped microgels to spatially arrange a triple co‐culture of key renal epithelial, endothelial, and fibroblast cells.

INHERITANCE OF BASIC QUANTITATIVE TRAITS BY THE HYBRIDS OF GRAIN SORGHUM OF THE FIRST GENERATION

open access: yesЗерновое хозяйство России, 2018
In the work with all crops including sorghum, it’s necessary to know the character of the inheritance of basic economic traits so that to decrease the time for breeding of new varieties and hybrids.

Advances in Conductive Nanomaterials for Cardiac Arrhythmia and Future Directions in Bioevaluation Strategies

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Conductive nanomaterials (CNMs) show promising potential in cardiac tissue regeneration and restoring cardiac rhythm as reported in several in vitro studies. This review article elaborates on the applications of CNMs in the treatment of myocardial infarction (MI) and MI‐induced cardiac arrhythmias, and it sheds light on the innovative approach of ...
