Cyclic combing of untreated and bleached human hair: Analysis of the time‐dependent breakage of hair through recording the formation of fibre fragments

One important aspect of daily hair grooming routines is whether, after combing, conspicuous numbers of broken hairs are observed. Machine‐based cyclic combing of hair tresses serves as a good indicator for early hair breakage and as a suitable measure to determine the effect of an ingredient/product/process on hair ‘strength’.

Streaming potential analysis of hair variation: Ethnicities and environmental exposures

International Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
Ethnicity and weathering shape electrokinetic behaviour and particle deposition in hair. ζ‐potential magnitudes ranked Caucasian > Indian > Chinese with no significant root‐tip variations. Deposition patterns generally correlate with ζ‐potential but differ by ethnicity, implicating other factors.

A Lavandula angustifolia flower extract and dipeptide‐4 blend modulates oxidative, glycative, autophagic and circadian pathways in human skin models

The blend enhanced antioxidation, anti‐glycation, autophagy and circadian regulation in cell and skin models. Key markers included mitochondrial ROS, γ‐H2AX, AGEs, ATP, melatonin, LC3 and SOD. Significant improvements were visualized via fluorescence and quantified with statistical markers.

Establishment and validation of a hair fall atlas for Chinese men based on trichoscopy

A new hair fall atlas with 7 scales is established and validated and ready to publish as a new methodology. We observed good consistency between the dermatologists' grading (PCC >0.8), and a strong correlation shown between clinical scores and hair fall attributes based on image analysis (|p| > 0.8).
