Production of Oxidants by Ion Bombardment of Icy Moons in the Outer Solar System
Our groups in Brazil, France and Italy have been active, among others in the world, in performing experiments on physical‐chemical effects induced by fast ions colliding with solids (frozen gases, carbonaceous and organic materials, silicates, etc.) of astrophysical interest. The used ions span a very large range of energies, from a few keV to hundreds

Trans-Neptunian Object Colors as Evidence for a Past Close Stellar Flyby to the Solar System
Thousands of small bodies, known as trans-Neptunian objects (TNOs), orbit the Sun beyond Neptune. TNOs are remnants of the planets’ formation from a disk of gas and dust, so it is puzzling that they move mostly on eccentric orbits inclined to the ...

Rotational properties of the binary and non-binary populations in the Trans-Neptunian belt [PDF]
We present results for the short-term variability of Binary Trans-Neptunian Objects (BTNOs). We performed CCD photometric observations using the 3.58 m Telescopio Nazionale Galileo, the 1.5 m Sierra Nevada Observatory telescope, and the 1.23 m Centro ...

Unusual Eccentricity and Inclination Distributions of Trans-Neptunian Objects and Trans-Neptunian Binaries [PDF]
The eccentricity and inclination of trans-Neptunian objects (TNOs) decrease significantly as radius of perihelion increases. Also, the percentage of TNOs in almost circular orbits with low inclinations increases dramatically with perihelion distance.

Ozone Production by Electron Irradiation of Regolith Ice: Laboratory Study for the Icy Moons
Abstract We irradiate fine‐grained regolith pure water ice in ultra high vacuum with 5keV $5\,\text{keV}$ and 10keV $10\,\text{keV}$ electrons to study the radiolysis of water ice. The ice regolith is designed to closely mimic the physical characteristics of the surfaces of the icy moons of the Solar System.

Large‐Angle Anomalies in the CMB
We review the recently found large‐scale anomalies in the maps of temperature anisotropies in the cosmic microwave background. These include alignments of the largest modes of CMB anisotropy with each other and with geometry and direction of motion of the solar ssystem, and the unusually low power at these largest scales.

The New Horizons Extended Mission Target: Arrokoth Search and Discovery
Following the Pluto flyby of the New Horizons spacecraft, the mission provided a unique opportunity to explore the Kuiper Belt in situ. The possibility existed to fly by a Kuiper Belt object (KBO), as well as to observe additional objects at distances ...

Tracking Neptune's Migration History through High-Perihelion Resonant Trans-Neptunian Objects
Recently, Sheppard et al. (2016) presented the discovery of seven new trans-Neptunian objects with moderate eccentricities, perihelia beyond 40 AU, and semimajor axes beyond 50 AU.

Formation of Asteroid (16) Psyche by a Giant Impact
Abstract Asteroid (16) Psyche is the largest likely metal‐rich asteroid in the Solar System and the target of the NASA Psyche mission. The mission aims to determine whether the asteroid is the core of a differentiated planetesimal that lost its mantle via a giant impact.
