We are concerned by data processing in both centralized and distributed environments. We claim that it is profitable and efficient to make the same effort to the design of the transactions system as we made to the design of the data system. To define such a system, we present in this paper two levels of transactions modeling.

Multi-Tenant is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model that allows the sharing of WEB systems by several customers (tenants) as if they were unique and exclusive to each one [4]. This paper proposes to see the Multi-Tenant systems as a set of transactions and periodically charge their users according to the number of times that each transaction is used ...

Traditional workload management methods mainly focus on the current system status while information about the interaction between queued and running transactions is largely ignored. This paper proposes using transaction reordering, a workload management method that considers both the current system status and information about the interaction between ...

A transactive account of transactive criticism
Poetics, 1978Abstract Efforts to explain subjects' tape-recorded comments on short stories came from and led to postulates such as: differences in response are as significant as the sameness of the text. One can explain both samenesses and differences in response by a theme-and-variations theory of the responder's identity.

I would like to extend to all our readers a warm welcome to a new year, and take this opportunity to comment on the state of our journal and various changes that have taken place. TMC is overall in robust health, and is clearly the journal of choice for researchers in mobile computing, as demonstrated by a high impact factor that has grown rapidly in ...

Jest is a Java VM extended to support transactions and general-purpose persistence. Jest allows Java programmers to manipulate any object using transactions and provides resilience to machine failure for these objects. Jest extends Java's current emphasis on safety and reliability to the safe and consistent management of permanent state.

Abstract: Transaction costs is a generic term referring to the costs of transacting through the market (e.g., search, information, contract, monitoring costs). They are applied with different meanings to organizational structures (e.g., vertical integration), market failures (e.g., externalities), institutional choices (e.g., promotion of clubs), and ...
