Farmland Liquidization and Transaction Costs
This paper discusses why progress in farmland liquidization through leasing has been very slow in the agricultural sector in Japan, focusing on the transaction costs related to farmland lease. First, this paper points out that transaction costs are an important constraint for farmland lease, and argues by means of a survey of related studies, why ...

The thermophilic acetogenic model organism Moorella thermoacetica can utilize lactate as substrate. The formation of lactate by reduction of pyruvate is energetically favorable, but the reverse reaction, the oxidation of lactate to pyruvate with NAD+ as electron acceptor is challenging.

Heterologous expression of membrane transporters in cultured cells is essential for functional characterization, but is sometimes limited by low activity. Our study compares the HDAC inhibitors butyrate, VPA and SAHA to enhance transport activity. We propose to replace butyrate by SAHA: it is equally effective, devoid of repulsive odor, costs less, and

Transaction Costs: Economies of Scale, Optimum, Equilibrium and Efficiency [PDF]
The aim of this article is to propose a core game theory model of transaction costs wherein it is indicated how direct costs determine the probability of loss and subsequent transaction costs. The existence of optimum is proven, and the way in which exposure influences the location of the optimum is demonstrated.

Abstract Purpose To compare plan quality among photon volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) and intensity‐modulated proton therapy (IMPT) with robustness using three different proton beam delivery systems with various spot size (σ) ranges: cyclotron‐generated proton beams (CPBs) (σ: 2.7–7.0 mm), linear accelerator proton beams (LPBs) (σ: 2.9–5.5 mm),

Closing the gap in plan quality: Leveraging deep‐learning dose prediction for adaptive radiotherapy
Abstract Purpose Balancing quality and efficiency has been a challenge for online adaptive therapy. Most systems start the online re‐optimization with the original planning goals. While some systems allow planners to modify the planning goals, achieving a high‐quality plan within time constraints remains a common barrier.

Abstract Purpose This study evaluates a novel cone‐beam computed tomography (CBCT) imaging solution integrated onto a conventional C‐arm linear accelerator (linac) with increased gantry speed. The purpose is to assess the impact of improved imaging hardware and reconstruction algorithms on image quality.
