Security Issues in Distributed Transaction Processing Systems
2005Transaction-processing systems (TPS) are becoming increasingly more available as commercial products. However, the approaches to the issues associated with using TPS in multilevel secure environments are still in the research stage. In this article, we address the issues of multilevel security in distributed transaction-processing systems.

Overview of disaster recovery for transaction processing systems
Proceedings.,10th International Conference on Distributed Computing Systems, 2002An overview is given of the major issues involved in maintaining an up-to-date backup copy of a database, kept at a remote site. A method is presented for performing this task without impairing the performance at the primary site. The method is scalable, and it is particularly suitable for multiprocessor systems.

Distributed Transaction Processing and The Camelot System
1987This paper describes distributed transaction processing, a technique used for simplifying the construction of reliable distributed systems. After introducing transaction processing, the paper presents models describing the structure of distributed systems, the transactional computations on them, and the layered software architecture that supports those

A multiple computer system for reliable transaction processing
ACM SIGSMALL Newsletter, 1978The Tandem 16 system is a novel solution to the problem of providing a cost-effective and reliable computer system for commercial transaction processing. The system design goal is to continue operation in spite of any single component failure. This paper presents an overview of the hardware structure of the system. It is a multiple computer system, with

Benchmarks for Transaction and Analytical Processing Systems
2013As presented in Chap. 1, the goal of this thesis is to analyze and compare the behavior of databases in mixed workload scenarios as a basis to evaluate logical database design decisions. Benchmarks provide a method for this. A benchmark is “a standardized problem or test that serves as a basis for evaluation or comparison (as of computer system ...

On optimal scheduling of integrity assertions in a transaction processing system
International Journal of Computer & Information Sciences, 1981Semantic integrity of a database is guarded by a set of integrity assertions expressed as predicates on database values. The problem of efficient evaluation of integrity assertions in transaction processing systems is considered. Three methods of validation (compile-time, run-time, and post-execution validations) are analyzed in terms of database ...

Open online transaction processing with the TUXEDO system
Digest of Papers COMPCON Spring 1992, 2003The authors present an overview of the TUXEDO Enterprise Transaction Processing System, which provides a UNIX system-based transaction processing monitor System/T, designed to enable the integration of many different components of online transaction processing (OLTP) in an open systems environment.

Interactive Transaction Processing for In-Memory Database System
2018In-memory transaction processing has gained fast development in recent years. Previous works usually assume the one-shot transaction model, where transactions are run as stored procedures. Though many systems have shown impressive throughputs in handling one-shot transactions, it is hard for developers to debug and maintain stored procedures. According

Non-blocking distributed transaction processing system
Journal of Systems and Software, 2000Abstract The prolific development of the wide variety of Internet applications forces a need for a software solution to enable access to multiple data sources while ensuring data integrity and consistency. Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) Services specified by the Object Management Group (OMG) includes a Transaction Service ...
