Technique of transanal endoscopic microsurgery

Surgical Endoscopy, 1988
Sessile adenomas are predominantly localized in the rectum and lower sigma. Surgical removal is indicated but often implies an invasive surgical procedure. Using conventional transanal surgical techniques, only the lower rectum can be reached and there are high rates of recurrence.

Transanal endoscopic microsurgery for rectal cancer

Clinical Radiology, 2016
Since its introduction in the 1980s, total mesorectal excision (TME) has been the standard surgical technique for treating rectal cancer. This procedure involves removing the rectum and the surrounding envelope of fat along the plane of the mesorectal fascia.

Transanal endoscopic microsurgery for rectal cancer

European Journal of Cancer, 2002
If curation is intended for rectal cancer, total mesorectal excision with autonomic nerve preservation (TME) is the gold standard. Transanal resection is tempting because of low mortality and morbidity rates. However, inferior tumour control, provoked by the limitations of the technique, resulted in its cautious application and use mainly for ...

Technique of transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEM).

Surgical technology international, 1996
Early stages of rectal cancer, well and ~oderately differentiated, have a l~w r~te of regional spread a~d therefore may be treated by conservative therapy. 1-3 Transanal Bnrloscopic MIcrosurgery (TEM)was In- troduced into clinical practice' by G. Buess in 1983.This technique allows for the local treatment of be- nign lesions and the early stages of ...

[Transanal endoscopic microsurgery].

Leber, Magen, Darm, 1986
A new endoscopic surgical method was developed for removal of large sessile adenomas of the rectum and lower sigmoid. Stereoscopic sight and magnifying glasses do allow precise surgery of these tumors. If adenomas are present they can be removed using the technique of mucosa excision; if on the other hand rectum carcinomas have to be removed the ...

Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery (TEM)

2014
The transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEM) technique, first described by Buess nearly three decades ago (Buess et al., Chirurg 55(10):677–680, 1984), has been increasingly adopted by colorectal and minimally invasive surgeons, who are progressively incorporating this minimally invasive approach into their practice.

[Transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEM)].

Nihon Geka Gakkai zasshi, 2000
Minimally invasive surgery is mandatory for rectal tumors to reduce surgical complications and to improve the quality of life. The conventional transanal procedure is one from of minimally invasive surgery for rectal tumors, but it is still often difficult to reach the middle and upper thirds of the rectum due to anatomical characteristics.

Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery (TEM)

2015
Surgery of the rectum is difficult, as it is located within the confines of the narrow bony pelvis. This precludes good lighting and good exposure. With the proximity of nerve plexuses and venous plexuses to the pelvic organs, it is very demanding to attain good oncological surgery with optimal functional outcomes.

Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery(TEM)

1991
Summary. In the period from July 1983 to June 1991, 321 operations were performed using the technique of transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEM). The most proximal tumours resected were in the lower sigmoid up to 25cm from the anal verge. The complication rate requiring surgical intervention was 6.5% and the recurrence rate after polypectomy was 5%. Of

Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery (TEM)

2009
The ultimate minimally invasive procedure for intra-abdominal neoplasia is one that avoids any abdominal incision. To this end, colonoscopy with polypectomy meets the criteria and stands as the first major step in minimally invasive therapy of colorectal neoplasia.
