Pulmonary embolism after transcatheter arterial chemoembolization
European Journal of Cancer Care, 2005Metastatic hepatic tumours can be treated with hepatic transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE). Common complications associated with TACE include hepatic insufficiency, fever, and pain. However, pulmonary embolism is rarely documented as a fatal adverse effect.

Percutaneous transcatheter embolization for arterial trauma
Journal of Vascular Surgery, 1985With increasing technologic advances in interventional radiology, the vascular surgeon should be well versed in the indications, limitations, complications, and results of percutaneous transcatheter embolization for arterial trauma. Three hundred twenty-eight angiographically determined arterial injuries occurred in 242 patients from 1977 to 1984 in a ...

Transcatheter Arterial Embolization in Blunt Hepatic Trauma
Southern Medical Journal, 2000Patients with blunt hepatic injury can safely be managed nonoperatively if they show hemodynamic stability. Transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) is a useful adjunct in the treatment of patients who show evidence of continued hemorrhage or who have pooling of contrast material on computed tomography (CT).

Transcatheter Arterial Embolization of Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformations
Journal of Neuroscience Nursing, 1990An arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is a tangled mass of arteries and veins. These abnormal dilated vessels shunt blood away from normal brain tissue, resulting in adjacent tissue damage. In the past surgical removal of an AVM was often complicated by hemorrhage. In some cases the location or size of an AVM made it unresectable.

Improved technique for transcatheter embolization of arteries
American Journal of Roentgenology, 1978Tnanscatheten embolization of arteries to control bleeding and to infarct tumors has been widely described in the nadiologic literature during the last 5 years. The process of introducing the emboli into the catheter hub can be cumbersome, requiring repeated removal of the syringe from the catheter, so that the small pieces of Gelfoam, autologous clot,

Cerebral lipiodol embolism during transcatheter arterial chemoembolization
Neurology, 2004Cerebral lipiodol embolism (CLE) is a rare complication that may occur during chemoembolization. The authors present three cases of CLE during transcatheter arterial chemoembolization for hepatocellular carcinoma. Multiple small nonconfluent hyperintense intracerebral lesions were found on the diffusion-weighted and fluid-attenuated inversion recovery ...

Transcatheter Coil Embolization of Coronary Artery Fistula
Asian Cardiovascular and Thoracic Annals, 2002Between December 1982 and August 2001, coil embolization of coronary artery-to-cardiac chamber fistula was attempted in 15 patients aged 11 months to 44 years (mean, 7.2 ± 2.5 years). The fistulae connected the left anterior descending artery to the right ventricle in 4 patients, the right coronary artery to the right ventricle in 3, the right ...

Transcatheter arterial embolization in hepatic tumor hemorrhage
Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology, 2019Objective: Spontaneous hepatic tumor hemorrhage is a rare but challenging emergency especially among cirrhotic patients with poor hepatic function. This study aimed at analyzing the safety, efficacy and feasibility of transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) in the treatment of hepatic tumor hemorrhage.

Bronchial Artery Aneurysm Refractory to Transcatheter Embolization
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 2008Bronchial artery aneurysms occur rarely, but they are potentially life threatening and require treatment to avoid rupture and other complications. A 37-year-old man, who was otherwise healthy, presented with chest discomfort and was found to have a large right bronchial artery aneurysm.

Transcatheter arterial embolization in unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma
Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology, 1990Seven hundred thirty-nine patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma have been treated by transcatheter arterial chemoembolization using gelatin sponge particles soaked in a solution of Mitomycin C and Adriamycin. This therapy can be equal or superior to surgical resection and serves both as embolic therapy and targeted chemotherapy.
