Machine Learning‐Based Prediction of Mortality in Patients With Mitral Regurgitation: Results From Two Nationwide, Prospective Studies

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
Using two nationwide prospective Chinese cohorts totaling nearly 11,000 patients with significant mitral regurgitation, we developed and externally validated a CatBoost‐based machine learning model for all‐cause mortality prediction. The model achieved AUCs of 0.783 internally and 0.703 externally, outperforming the Cox model, MitraScore, and EuroSCORE

Pulmonary Artery Denervation for Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension After Transcatheter Mitral Edge‐to‐Edge Repair: A Pilot Study and First Application in the Post M‐TEER Setting

open access: yesPulmonary Circulation, Volume 16, Issue 4, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is common in patients undergoing transcatheter mitral edge‐to‐edge repair (M‐TEER) and is an established determinant of adverse outcomes after intervention. Importantly, persistent PH after technically successful M‐TEER remains associated with ongoing symptoms, right ventricular dysfunction and poor prognosis, yet ...

Right ventricular apical thrombus formation after transcatheter edge-to-edge mitral valve repair: a case report

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine
Transcatheter edge-to-edge repair is an alternative therapy for patients with severe mitral regurgitation. Here, we report the first case of right ventricular apical thrombus formation following transcatheter edge-to-edge repair in a 54-year-old male ...

Bioinspired Passive Flow Routing to Mitigate Thrombosis in Prosthetic Heart Valves and Cardiovascular Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 53, 24 September 2026.
Bioinspired passive flow routing mitigates thrombosis in cardiovascular devices by redirecting a small fraction of forward flow into stagnation‐prone regions. Inspired by avian alula and aircraft slat mechanisms, strategically placed routing channels restore washout around mechanical heart valves, reducing low‐shear exposure by four orders of magnitude

Edge-to-edge transcatheter tricuspid repair for isolated posterior prolapse

open access: yesREC: Interventional Cardiology (English Ed.)
The adoption of transcatheter tricuspid valve repair (TTVR) with the edge-to-edge technique has rapidly grown. Functional tricuspid regurgitation (TR) is the most common indication, and the most common approaches are to grasp either the septal and ...

A Real‐Time Digital Twin for Human Cardiovascular Applications

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Biomedical Engineering, Volume 42, Issue 9, September 2026.
A real‐time digital twin was developed using the reduced‐order unscented Kalman filter (ROUKF) to estimate left ventricular contractility from synthetic and in vivo left ventricular pressure measurement data. The results were promising, with identifiable parameter estimates and a stable mathematical model, highlighting the potential for real‐time ...

Percutaneous Treatment of Mitral Regurgitation After Failed Mitral Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Development and Disease
Mitral regurgitation is one of the most prevalent valvular heart diseases globally and the second most common indication for cardiac valve surgery, surpassed only by aortic stenosis.

Development of Multifunctional Hierarchically Restructured Antibacterial Neural Interfacing Electrodes via Plasma‐Enhanced Atomic Layer Deposition of Zinc Oxide Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 69, 27 August 2026.
ABSTRACT Next‐generation implantable neural‐interfacing devices are increasingly constrained by the coupled demands of electrode miniaturization, electrochemical performance, and implantation infection risk. Femtosecond laser–based hierarchical surface restructuring (HSR) technology has emerged as a scalable, manufacturing‐compatible platform for ...

Transcatheter Mitral Valve Repair in a Patient with Osteogenesis Imperfecta: A Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesInterventional Cardiology: Reviews, Research, Resources
With the emergence of less invasive transcatheter valvular therapies, there remains a limited understanding of the feasibility and durability of these approaches in patients with osteogenesis imperfecta and whether they can offer a suitable alternative ...
