An increase in the aging population has lead to an increase in the burden of heart failure and the prevalence of mitral regurgitation (MR). Surgical intervention for primary MR remains the gold standard of care. Minimally invasive mitral valve therapies for both primary and secondary mitral regurgitation are likely to grow in high-risk patients.
