A Modest Conception of Moral Right & Wrong
ABSTRACT Taking inspiration from Hume, I advance a conception of the part of morality concerned with right and wrong, rooted in the actual moral rules established and followed within our society. Elsewhere, I have argued this approach provides a way of thinking about how we are genuinely “bound in a moral way” to keep our moral obligations that it is ...

Genetic Encoding of a Trifunctional Photo‐Cross‐Linker with a Cleavable Alkyl Ester Moiety
A novel noncanonical amino acid, DiZAAsu, possessing photo‐cross‐linking, biotinylation, and alkaline‐cleavable functionalities, is genetically encoded by an engineered pyrrolyl‐tRNA synthetase mutant. The alkyl ester moiety expands the design space of cleavable photo‐cross‐linkable amino acids.

Membrane‐forming phospholipids are produced in cells via enzymatic diacylation. Here, we show that direct aminolysis of acyl thioesters with diamino acids in aqueous environments enables the synthesis of diacylated amino acids (DAAAs), which spontaneously self‐assemble into robust phospholipid‐like vesicles across a broad range of pH and temperature ...

Stress Conditioned Early‐Stage Screening in Biocatalysis
Standard enzyme screening often overlooks industrial stress. We propose integrating conditions like pH shifts, low oxygen, interfacial deactivation, and high substrate/product levels into early high‐throughput assays. By measuring stress‐relevant metrics such as turnover under stress, cofactor efficiency, and solvent stability, the enzyme selection ...
