Restoration of Glymphatic Influx After Photothrombotic Stroke Using Low‐Intensity Focused Ultrasound

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 31, Issue 6, June 2025.
We examine immediate effect and 7‐day LIFU on CSF influx in stroke mice. LIFU rapidly increased CSF influx, peaking at 20–30 min post‐stimulation. Stroke reduced CSF influx, lowest at day 1‐3, with recovery by day 7. Daily contralesional LIFU restored CSF influx, suggesting stroke recovery benefits.

Comprehensive Characterization of Antidepressant Pharmacogenetics: A Systematic Review of Studies in Major Depressive Disorder

open access: yesClinical and Translational Science, Volume 18, Issue 6, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Pharmacogenetics is a promising strategy to facilitate individualized care for patients with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). Research is ongoing to identify the optimal genetic markers for predicting outcomes to antidepressant therapies. The primary aim of this systematic review was to summarize antidepressant pharmacogenetic studies to ...

Perceptual and Motor Processes in Motor Imagery

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 61, Issue 11, June 2025.
Whether perceptual or motor components of movement are rehearsed and encoded when a movement is performed via motor imagery is unclear. Using a task where the perceptual and motor components do not align, here we show that accurate representations of both are maintained, suggesting that motor imagery supports rehearsal of both perceptual and motor ...

Utility of Cortical Inhibitory and Facilitatory Neuronal Circuits in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Diagnosis

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neurology, Volume 32, Issue 6, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Cortical hyperexcitability is an early feature of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), linked to dysfunction in inhibitory and facilitatory cortical circuits, measurable using paired‐pulse transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). Short‐interval intracortical inhibition (SICI) is a robust biomarker of inhibitory function and an ALS ...

Complex Magnetic Fields: Harnessing the Electromagnetic Symphony for Possible Applications in Regenerative Medicine and Antifungal Properties

open access: yesInternational Wound Journal, Volume 22, Issue 6, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Complex magnetic fields (CMFs) represent an emerging frontier in regenerative medicine, offering significant potential for innovative therapeutic strategies. This review examined both the theoretical foundations and practical applications of CMFs, focusing on their roles in tissue regeneration and antifungal activity. A comprehensive review of

Overnight changes in performance fatigability and their relationship to modulated deep sleep oscillations via auditory stimulation

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, Volume 34, Issue 3, June 2025.
Summary Deep sleep oscillations are proposed to be central in restoring brain function and to affect different aspects of motor performance such as facilitating the consolidation of motor sequences resulting in faster and more accurate sequence tapping. Yet, whether deep sleep modulates performance fatigability during fatiguing tasks remains unexplored.

Acceptance of Innovative Technologies Among Healthcare Professionals—A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesNursing &Health Sciences, Volume 27, Issue 2, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Innovative technologies play a crucial role in healthcare service delivery, but evidence shows their underuse. The associations between professionals' perceived ease of use, performance expectancy, and educational training in technology usage have been poorly explored across technologies. This study explores the relationship between healthcare

Post‐exercise neural plasticity is augmented by adding blood flow restriction during low work rate arm cycling

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, Volume 110, Issue 6, Page 877-887, 1 June 2025.
Abstract Blood flow restriction (BFR) combined with low work rate exercise can enhance muscular and cardiovascular fitness. However, whether neural mechanisms mediate these enhancements remains unknown. This study examined changes in corticospinal excitability and motor cortical inhibition following arm cycle ergometry with and without BFR.

Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation

Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Clinics of North America, 2019
Migraine is the most prevalent neurological disorder worldwide; nevertheless, its pathophysiology is not yet completely understood. Recent scientific progresses in migraine research disclosed new possible targets for novel non-pharmacological treatment strategies for migraine treatment, such as noninvasive neuromodulation methods.

Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation: Personalizing the neuromodulation

2015 37th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC), 2015
The beneficial effects of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) has been demonstrated, but the neuroscientific community is working to increase its efficiency. A promising line of advancement may be reducing the inter-individual variability of the response through the personalization of the stimulation, adapted to fit the structural and ...
