Increasing paced heart rate reduces cerebral pulsatility
Abstract Cerebral pulsatility is a key index of cerebral haemodynamics, a central determinant of intravascular shear stress within intracranial vessels, and is associated with cerebral small vessel disease. It increases with a spontaneously falling heart rate, but the effect of altering heart rates on cerebral haemodynamics is unknown.

Abstract figure legend During 10 h exposures to normobaric hypoxia exposure there was a selective leftward shift in ventilatory response to hyperoxic hypercapnic rebreathing, but not the cerebrovascular response. The key findings are that the resetting of the central chemoreflex to lower PCO2${P_{{\mathrm{C}}{{\mathrm{O}}_2}}}$ during early hypoxic ...

Abstract figure legend Exercise‐induced increases in forearm venous plasma and serum brain‐derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) are often assumed to be indicative of release from the brain. Sixteen healthy and physically fit adults (20–40 years old) were recruited to investigate whether exercise‐induced changes in forearm venous mature BDNF (mBDNF) and ...

Stimulated Acoustic Emission Detected by Transcranial Color Doppler Ultrasound
Background and Purpose —Experimental and clinical data suggest that insonation of echo-contrast agents with high acoustical power produces disintegration of microbubbles, resulting in a pseudo-Doppler phenomenon called stimulated

Abstract figure legend To investigate age‐related differences in ventilatory and cerebrovascular responses to exercise at high‐altitude, adults (n = 10, 23–44 years) and children (n = 8, 7–14 years) completed progressive cycling exercise tests at sea‐level and following 6 days of acclimatization at 3800 m.

Abstract figure legend Temporal scaling physiology differs significantly between mice and humans. Mice have higher metabolism, heart and respiratory rate, as well as faster blood flow rates, brain activity and physiological dynamics over time. These differences influence the temporal resolution needed in preclinical imaging of mouse models to ...

Acute Neurological Events in Children With Hemoglobin SC Disease: A Multicenter Retrospective Study
ABSTRACT Introduction Neurological manifestations in children with hemoglobin SC (HbSC) disease remain insufficiently characterized, particularly regarding acute events. The aim of this study was to describe the spectrum and frequency of acute neurological events in a multicenter cohort of children with HbSC disease.
