Abstract Muscle contraction increases motor evoked potential (MEP) amplitude, decreasing motor threshold (MT). Correspondingly, trials where baseline EMG amplitude exceeds a specified threshold are often rejected. We aimed to investigate the influence of motor activity below such a threshold of MEP amplitude.
