Dorsal genital nerve stimulation with the UCon neurostimulator was found to be safe and feasible. A 4‐week period of home stimulation resulted in a reduction of fecal incontinence episodes, a decrease in strong urgency episodes, and an improvement in bowel‐related questionnaires.

Optimization of photobiomodulation therapy for spinal cord injury: A review
Photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy in the red and near‐infrared range can significantly modulate the secondary injury response and promote the reparative and regenerative potential of neural tissue after spinal cord injury (SCI). At present, due to the nature of delivery methods, the most effective dose and irradiance at the injury site to optimize ...

ABSTRACT There is a growing interest in elucidating the mechanisms that drive the benefits of physical exercise on cognitive performance. A key element for a better understanding of a particular phenomenon (e.g., the mediators of the exercise‐cognition interaction) is the selection of an appropriate control condition/group as the basis for causal ...

Exercise during 14 days of head down tilt bedrest attenuates motor unit impairments in older humans
Abstract Head‐down tilt bedrest (HDBR) models the effects of mechanical unloading on neuromuscular function. The efficacy of exercise in preserving motor unit (MU) function in older adults during HDBR remains unclear. This study investigated the effects of 14‐day HDBR on MU properties in older adults and the protective role of exercise.

Interventional therapy for neuropathic pain
Neuropathic pain (NP) is a common clinical refractory pain for which there are limited methods to treat. In this article, based on typical diseases, such as postherpetic neuralgia (PHN), trigeminal neuralgia, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), lower ...

Abstract figure legend Schematic overview of the randomised crossover study investigating the effects of nocturnal periodic breathing (nPB) on sympathetic activity and ventilatory acclimatisation in hypobaric hypoxia equivalent to 4000 m altitude. Participants completed two 3‐day sojourns where nPB was inhibited by increasing inspiratory CO2 fraction ...

A model for transcutaneous current stimulation: simulations and experiments [PDF]
Complex nerve models have been developed for describing the generation of action potentials in humans. Such nerve models have primarily been used to model implantable electrical stimulation systems, where the stimulation electrodes are close to the nerve

Abstract figure legend We investigated how 6 weeks of dynamic knee‐extensor interval training with blood flow restriction (BFR‐leg) and without (CTRL‐leg) impacts performance and its mechanisms using non‐invasive methods. Specifically, we used gold‐standard methods to assess neuromuscular function, vascular function using Doppler ultrasound, and near ...
