Association of Cardiovascular Events Between Mitral Annular Disjunction and Left Atrial Reservoir Strain in Barlow's Disease

open access: yesEchocardiography, Volume 42, Issue 9, September 2025.
The present study suggested that MAD and low LARS are associated with an increased risk of arrhythmia and cardiac events in patients with BD. LARS, left atrial reservoir strain; MAD, mitral annular disjunction. ABSTRACT Aims Mitral annular disjunction (MAD) has been suggested to be associated with malignant ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac ...

Clinical impact of transesophageal echocardiography in patients with stroke without clinical evidence of cardiovascular sources of emboli

open access: yesArquivos Brasileiros de Cardiologia, 2001
OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of transeophageal echocardiography on management of patients at low-risk for cardiogenic embolism to prevent new potential cardiovascular sources of emboli.

Evaluation of 4D Flow MRI‐Derived Aortic Hemodynamics and Their Relationships With Left Ventricular Remodeling in Patients With Moderate Aortic Stenosis: A Preliminary Study

open access: yesEchocardiography, Volume 42, Issue 9, September 2025.
Patients with moderate AS exhibited various 4D flow MRI‐derived aortic hemodynamic profiles despite having similar mean pressure gradient. Peak turbulent kinetic energy (TKE) significantly correlated with LV volumes, mass, and native T1 value. Our study revealed heterogeneity of aortic hemodynamics and their impact on LV myocardium in patients with ...

The Single‐Delayed‐Phase Contrast Computed Tomography Before Ablation to Reduce Radiation Exposure Without Compromising Diagnostic Pulmonary Vein Accuracy

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, Volume 36, Issue 9, Page 2341-2352, September 2025.
The results of analyzing the early and delayed phases of contrast computed tomography (CCT) images showed that the single‐delayed‐phase was comparable in evaluating the anatomy and diameter of the pulmonary veins to the single‐early‐phase. The single‐delayed‐phase CCT was considered to be effective for evaluation before ablation.

Quadricuspid aortic valve: Interesting images

open access: yesAnnals of Cardiac Anaesthesia
The quadricuspid aortic valve is a rare congenital anomaly, usually associated with aortic regurgitation requiring surgical intervention. It may be associated with other congenital anomalies such as coronary anomalies, patent ductus arteriosus ...
