Successive Mechanical Recycling of Poly(lactic Acid) by Injection Molding: Evolution of Molecular, Thermal, and Mechanical Properties

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study investigated how successive injection molding recycling affects the properties of poly(lactic acid) (PLA). Gel permeation chromatography showed a two‐thirds molar mass reduction after ten reprocessing cycles. Differential scanning calorimetry revealed lower glass transition and cold crystallization temperatures.

Transesterification Reactions Catalyzed by Subtilisins

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1966
Abstract The hydrolysis of l-tyrosine ethyl ester by Carlsberg subtilisin, subtilisin BPN', and Novo bacterial proteinase has been examined in mixtures of water with various alcohols. The presence of straight chain alcohols resulted in an apparent inhibition of acid release.

From Molecule to Material: How Support Changes Heterobimetallic Catalysts in Lactide Polymerization

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
Silica‐supported heterobimetallic alkoxide complexes were developed as catalysts for lactide ring‐opening polymerization. Grafting iron‐based ate complexes onto SiO2‐700 produced well‐defined active sites, enabling controlled polymerization with predictable molar masses, narrow dispersities, and recyclability.
