Accelerating transfer entropy computation

2014 International Conference on Field-Programmable Technology (FPT), 2014
Transfer entropy is a measure of information transfer between two time series. It is an asymmetric measure based on entropy change which only takes into account the statistical dependency originating in the source series, but excludes dependency on a common external factor.

PARALLEL COMPUTATIONS IN HEAT TRANSFER

Numerical Heat Transfer, 1986
A survey article is presented which discusses the architecture of vector and parallel machines, the charcteristics of the machines that are currently available, and the computational gain that can be achieved using these new types of machine architectures.

GPU‐accelerated computation of electron transfer

Journal of Computational Chemistry, 2012
AbstractElectron transfer is a fundamental process that can be studied with the help of computer simulation. The underlying quantum mechanical description renders the problem a computationally intensive application. In this study, we probe the graphics processing unit (GPU) for suitability to this type of problem.

Playing with unreality: Transference and computer

The International Journal of Psychoanalysis, 2008
In this paper I describe the impact of cyberspace on the analytical relationship. My reflections will move from two clinical histories. In the first history, I describe the case of Melania, a patient who, at a certain moment of her analysis, started sending me e-mails, almost building a 'parallel setting'.

Transfer Function Computation for Multidimensional Systems

Multidimensional Systems and Signal Processing, 2002
The author presents numerical algorithms for the computation of the transfer function for some specific cases of multidimensional systems described by some variation of the Fornasini-Marchesini model. The discrete Fourier transform is employed. Numerical examples are provided.

A Computational Parameter Study of Embryo Transfer

Annals of Biomedical Engineering, 2007
Embryo transfer (ET) is the final component of the in vitro fertilization process, and the limiting component to its success rate. The procedure is characterized by considerable technical variations in clinical practice and the effects of these different variations on the overall outcome is little understood.

Convergent transfer subgraph characterization and computation

Proceedings of the 2003 International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2003. ISCAS '03., 2003
In this paper, we present a precise characterization of the existence of a convergent transfer subgraph in an edge colored directed acyclic graph. Based on the characterization, linear time algorithms are proposed to decide the existence of a convergent transfer subgraph and, if one exists, to construct such a subgraph, respectively.

Methodologies for the exploration of computer and technology transference

Computers in Human Behavior, 2003
Transference, a term used in a variety of psychotherapeutic approaches especially psychoanalysis, has recently been applied to relationships people have with modern technologies, especially computers. Methods will be outlined which operationalize this notion and illustrative case studies will demonstrate the diversity of response resulting.
