Recovery of Lost Transfer Effects
Journal of Motor Behavior, 1970Tracking tasks known to facilitate or interfere with one another were investigated under various sequences of alternation. Double and treble alternating sequences of 2 tasks were used. 6 groups of 12 Ss practiced for 20 10-sec. trials, with 50-sec. intertrial intervals.

This chapter discusses how the vignetting effect of paintings may be transferred to photographs, with attention to centre-corner contrast. First, the lightness distribution of both is analysed. The results show that the painter’s vignette is more complex than that achieved using common digital post-processing methods.

The discussion of the previous chapter has established the way in which emission lines may be produced by collisional excitation locally within a nebula. However, whether the observer can see the emission depends upon whether the nebula is optically thick or optically thin to the escape of this radiation.

Journal of Verbal Learning and Verbal Behavior, 1970
Eighty sixth-grade Ss, split into five independent groups, learned two PA lists of 12 noun pairs each. Two groups performed under traditional transfer conditions with lists conforming to a negative transfer paradigm, A-B, A-C, or to a reference paradigm A-B, C-D.

Effective Multiclass Transfer for Hypothesis Transfer Learning
2017In this paper, we investigate the visual domain adaptation problem under the setting of Hypothesis Transfer Learning (HTL) where we can only access the source model instead of the data. However, previous studies of HTL are limited to either leveraging the knowledge from certain type of source classifier or low transfer efficiency on a small training ...

Effective Knowledge Transfer During Biopharmaceutical Technology Transfer
Journal of GXP Compliance, 2019While knowledge management (KM) has been widely applied in other sectors, the international biopharmaceutical sector has struggled with the meaningful and sustained application of effective KM practices. This is evident even though KM has been highlighted in regulatory guidance for over 10 years, and the positive business impact of KM is well ...

Quantum effects in biological electron transfer
Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2012Over recent decades, quantum effects such as coherent electronic energy transfers, electron and hydrogen tunneling have been uncovered in biological processes. In this Perspective, we highlight some of the main conceptual and methodological tools employed in the field to investigate electron tunneling in proteins, with a particular emphasis on the ...

Effective Capacitive Power Transfer
IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2012Capacitive power transfer (CPT) systems have up to date been used for very low power delivery due to a number of limitations. A fundamental treatment of the problem is carried out and a CPT system is presented that achieves many times higher power throughput into low-impedance loads than traditional systems with the same interface capacitance and ...

The transfer effect of leadup activities
Journal of Dental Education, 1990Previous literature shows that operative laboratory performance can be significantly improved through leadup training where students complete simulated preparations in plastic blocks. Since the task requirements of most fixed prosthodontic preparations seem similar to those of operative dentistry, it may be hypothesized that leadup training utilizing ...

Transfer entropies within dynamical effects framework
Physical Review E, 2020Transfer entropy (TE) is widely used in time-series analysis to detect causal couplings between temporally evolving objects. As a coupling strength quantifier, the TE alone often seems insufficient, raising the question of its further interpretations.
