Cooper pair transfer in nuclei

open access: yes, 2013
The second order DWBA implementation of two-particle transfer direct reactions which includes simultaneous and successive transfer, properly corrected by non-orthogonality effects is tested with the help of controlled nuclear structure and reaction ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Investigating the isolated effects of a soccer-specific mental fatigue manipulation on different task types

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology
IntroductionMental fatigue negatively impacts athletic performance, but commonly employed tasks like the Stroop task often lack ecological validity. This study aimed to validate a modified, soccer-specific Footbonaut task as a mental fatigue manipulation

Too much of a good thing: Random practice scheduling and self-control of feedback lead to unique but not additive learning benefits.

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2012
We examined the impact of self-controlled knowledge of results on the acquisition, retention, and transfer of anticipation timing skill as a function of random and blocked practice schedules.

Electron Transfer Rates in Solution: Toward a Predictive First Principle Approach

open access: yesChemistry, 2023
Using a very recently proposed theoretical model, electron transfer rates in solution are calculated from first principles for different donor-acceptor pairs in tetrahydrofuran.

Crosstalk between the ribosome quality control‐associated E3 ubiquitin ligases LTN1 and RNF10

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of the E3 ligase LTN1, the ubiquitin‐like modifier UFM1, or the deubiquitinating enzyme UFSP2 disrupts endoplasmic reticulum–ribosome quality control (ER‐RQC), a pathway that removes stalled ribosomes and faulty proteins. This disruption may trigger a compensatory response to ER‐RQC defects, including increased expression of the E3 ligase RNF10 ...

Psychological intervention strategies in college physical education and their impact on students' athletic performance

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology
IntroductionPsychological issues continue to pose a critical influence on athletic performance as well as the wellbeing of collegiate-level athletes, as data suggests that one-third of male varsity-level athletes and half of those at the female varsity ...

Radiative Transfer Effects in He I Emission Lines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We consider the effect of optical depth of the 2 ^{3}S level on the nebular recombination spectrum of He I for a spherically symmetric nebula with no systematic velocity gradients.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Strategy-adaptation memory training: predictors of older adults’ training gains

open access: yesOpen Psychology, 2019
Over the past decades, memory training interventions have been developed in an attempt to stabilize or enhance memory functioning in aging. Only recently has attention been paid to individual differences in training gains and consequently to predictors ...
