Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Vibration Suppression of the Vehicle Mechatronic ISD Suspension Using the Fractional-Order Biquadratic Electrical Network

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
In order to break the bottleneck of the integer-order transfer function in vehicle ISD (inerter-spring-damper) suspension design, a positive real synthesis design method of vehicle mechatronic ISD suspension based on the fractional-order biquadratic ...

Synthesis of multi‐band filters based on multi‐prototype transformation

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas & Propagation, 2021
In this article, a new synthesis method for generalized multi‐band filters has been proposed. Different from the traditional frequency transformation method, which transforms a low‐pass prototype into a multi‐band filter, multiple low‐pass prototypes ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Reconstruction Technique of Distorted Sensor Signals With Low-Pass NGD Function

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
This paper develops a new reconstruction technique of undesirable signal distortion generated by sensor electronic circuits. The introduced reconstruction technique is originally realized with unfamiliar low-pass negative group delay (NGD) function.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Image Degradation for Quality Assessment of Pan-Sharpening Methods

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
Wald’s protocol is the most widely accepted protocol to assess pan-sharpening algorithms. In particular, the synthesis property—which is usually validated on a reduced scale—is thought to be a necessary and sufficient condition of a success image fusion.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

A Frequency Transfer Function Synthesis of QFT Using Total Least Squares Method

open access: yesJournal of Control, Automation and Systems Engineering, 2002
The essential philosophy of the QFT(Quantitative Feedback Theory) is that a suitable controller can be found by loop shaping a nominal loop transfer function such that the frequency response of this function does not violate the QFT bounds. The loop shaping synthesis involves the identification of a structure and its specialization by means of the ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.
