Transfer hydrogenation and transfer hydrogenolysis
Journal of Organometallic Chemistry, 1980Abstract When heated with some organic compounds, the triphenylphosphine ligand of RuH 2 (PPh 3 ) 4 , RhH(PPh 3 ) 4 , RuCl 2 (PPh 3 ) 3 , and RhCl(PPh 3 ) 3 were hydrogenolyzed almost completely to benzene and those of PtCl 2 (PPh 3 ) 2 , Pt(PPh 3 ) 4 , and PdCl 2 (PPh 3 ) 2 underwent this conversion to a considerable extent. In the reaction of RuH

Transfer Hydrogenation of Imines with Ammonia–Borane: A Concerted Double‐Hydrogen‐Transfer Reaction
Angewandte Chemie International Edition, 2010Ammonia–borane (H3N-BH3, AB) is considered a feasible material for chemical hydrogen storage owing to its ideally very high storage capacity (19.6 weight% H) and thus has attracted much attention. Dehydrogenations of AB were accomplished either thermally or by transition metal catalysis. Considering AB as a significantly polarized molecule, we reasoned

Hydrogen-Atom Transfer Reactions
Topics in Current Chemistry, 2016The cascade [1,n]-hydrogen transfer/cyclization, recognized as the tert-amino effect one century ago, has received considerable interest in recent decades, and great achievements have been made. With the aid of this strategy, the inert C(sp(3))-H bonds can be directly functionalized into C-C, C-N, C-O bonds under catalysis of Lewis acids, Brønsted ...

Asymmetric Transfer Hydrogenation of Benzaldehydes
Organic Letters, 2000A combined system of RuCl[(R, R)-YCH(C(6)H(5))CH(C(6)H(5))NH(2)](eta(6)-arene) (Y = NSO(2)C(6)H(4)-4-CH(3) or O) and t-C(4)H(9)OK catalyzes the asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of various benzaldehyde-1-d derivatives with 2-propanol to yield (R)-benzyl-1-d alcohols in 95-99% ee and with >99% isotopic purity.

Hydrogen transfer in the hydrogenation of model compounds
Fuel, 1988Abstract Dibenzyl and benzyl phenyl ether were reacted together in naphthalene, tetralin and decalin, respectively under hydrogen or nitrogen atmosphere. Stabilized nickel was used as catalyst, and reaction was carried out at 250 °C and at 400 °C. The main reaction was the direct hydrogenation of samples by gaseous hydrogen on the catalyst surface.

Asymmetric Transfer Hydrogenation of Cyclobutenediones
Journal of the American Chemical SocietyFour-membered carbocycles are fundamental substructures in bioactive molecules and approved drugs and serve as irreplaceable building blocks in organic synthesis. However, developing efficient protocols furnishing diversified four-membered ring compounds in a highly regio-, diastereo-, and enantioselective fashion remains challenging but very desirable.

AbstractUncatalyzed transfer hydrogenations are H2‐transfer reactions in which donors that contain weakly bound hydrogen atoms undergo an H‐atom transfer (retrodisproportionation) onto an acceptor containing unsaturated bonds such as CC, CO, CN, NN, NO. Transfer hydrogenolyses are reactions in which σ bonds are cleaved upon additon of H2.

Transfer Hydrogenation as a Redox Process in Nucleotides
The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2014Using a combined theoretical and experimental strategy, the heats of hydrogenation of the nucleotide bases uracil, thymine, cytosine, adenine, and guanine have been determined. The most easily hydrogenated base is uracil, followed by thymine and cytosine.
