Corner Transfer Matrix Renormalization Group Method [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Physical Society of Japan, 1996
We propose a new fast numerical renormalization group method, the corner transfer matrix renormalization group (CTMRG) method, which is based on a unified scheme of Baxter's corner transfer matrix method and White's density matrix renormalization groupmethod. The key point is that a product of four corner transfer matrices gives the densitymatrix.

The Riccati Transfer Matrix Method

Journal of Mechanical Design, 1978
The Riccati transfer matrix method is a new technique for analyzing structural members. This new technique makes use of an existing large catalog of transfer matrices for various structural members such as rotating shafts. The numerical instability encountered when calculating high resonant frequencies, static response of a flexible member on a stiff ...

Radiative transfer model: matrix operator method

Applied Optics, 1996
A radiative transfer model, the matrix operator method, is discussed here. The matrix operator method is applied to a plane-parallel atmosphere within three spectral ranges: the visible, the infrared, and the microwave. For a homogeneous layer with spherical scattering, the radiative transfer equation can be solved analytically.

A simple method to account for size effects in the transfer matrix method

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2010
The transfer matrix method based is extensively used and well-validated for predicting the transmission loss of multilayer structures. However, this method leads to poor results at low frequencies due to the infinite extent assumption it is based on. This paper presents an efficient implementation of a Rayleigh-integral based method to account for the ...

Buckling of Piles in Layered Soils by Transfer Matrix Method

International Journal of Structural Stability and Dynamics, 2021
The transfer matrix method is applied to the buckling of end-bearing piles partially or fully embedded in a layered elastic medium with a constant coefficient of subgrade reaction for each layer. The solution of the governing differential equation for each pile segment can be expressed as the product of a fourth-order matrix and a coefficient ...

Analytical Transfer Matrix Method

2013
A brief introduction of the derivation and the use of the transfer matrix to study propagation in one-dimensional lossless systems is presented in this chapter, including several most simple examples. Both the energy eigenvalue and scattering issues are illustrated with discrete potential of only very few layers.
