Restricted Region Based Iterative Gradient Method for Non-Targeted Attack

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Neural networks have been widely applied but they are still vulnerable to adversarial examples. More and more defense models have been proposed and they can resist the attacks to the neural networks.

Negative and Positive Assimilation, Skill Transferability, and Linguistic Distance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
There are two complementary models of immigrants' economic and social adjustment -- the positive assimilation model of Chiswick (1978, 1979), and the negative assimilation model of Chiswick and Miller (2011). The negative assimilation model is applicable

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Comparative study on the use of specific and heterologous microsatellite primers in the stingless bees Melipona rufiventris and M. mondury (Hymenoptera, Apidae)

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Biology, 2010
Due to their high degree of polymorphism, microsatellites are considered useful tools for studying population genetics. Nevertheless, studies of genetic diversity in stingless bees by means of these primers have revealed a low level of polymorphism ...

Adaptive Robot Navigation Using Randomized Goal Selection with Twin Delayed Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient

open access: yesRobotics
The primary challenge in robotic navigation lies in enabling robots to adapt effectively to new, unseen environments. Addressing this gap, this paper enhances the Twin Delayed Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (TD3) model’s adaptability by introducing ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
