On the work performed by a transformation semigroup. [PDF]
A (partial) transformation α on the finite set {1,...,n} moves an element i of its domain a distance of |i − iα| units. The work w(α) performed by α is the sum of all of these distances. We derive formulae for the total work w(S) = α∈S w(α) performed by various semigroups S of (partial) transformations.

The ideal transforms of semigroups.
2003Let \(S\) be a submonoid of a torsion-free (additive) Abelian group with quotient group \(q(S)=\{s- t\mid s,t\in S\}\), and let \(I\) be an ideal of \(S\). In analogy with commutative rings, the author defines the Nagata ideal transform of \(S\) with respect to \(I\) to be \(T_S(I)=\{z\in q(S)\mid nI\subset(S:_Sz+S)\) for some \(n\geq 1\}\) and the ...

On Coverings of Rough Transformation Semigroups
2011The purpose of this paper is towards the algebraic study of rough finite state machines, i.e., to introduce the concept of homomorphisms between two rough finite state machines, to associate a rough transformation semigroup with a rough finite state machine and to introduce the concept of coverings of rough finite state machines as well as rough ...

On the skeleton of a finite transformation semigroup.
2010Summary: There are many ways to construct hierarchical decompositions of transformation semigroups. The holonomy algorithm is especially suitable for computational implementations and it is used in our software package. The structure of the holonomy decomposition is determined by the action of the semigroup on certain subsets of the state set.
