Características estruturais da madeira de pinus elliottii Engelm aos 30 anos de idade

open access: yesCiência Florestal, 2000
In this study, six trees from a 30 year slash pine stand were harvested. The stumps were converted into 2,5 m logs and the two first were processed into pith centered cants. After airseasoning, the cants were transformed into small clear static bending

MOGAD Is the Most Common Cause of Isolated Optic Neuritis in Children

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives The study aimed to characterize the clinical features, etiologies, and outcomes of isolated, first‐time pediatric ON in the post‐MOG‐IgG era. Methods This was a single‐center retrospective cohort study at Texas Children's Hospital of patients diagnosed with first‐time ON between 2018–2024, with follow‐up data collected through 2025.

A discriminant rule under transformation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
We present a new rule for discriminating among continuous populations which are not multivariate normal. The basic idea is to construct the sample maximum likelihood discriminant rule after transforming the data by a suitable multivariate transformation ...

Artificial Intelligence in Systemic Sclerosis: Clinical Applications, Challenges, and Future Directions

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare autoimmune disease defined by immune dysregulation, vasculopathy, and progressive fibrosis of the skin and internal organs. Despite advances in care, major complications such as interstitial lung disease (ILD) and myocardial involvement remain the leading causes of morbidity and mortality.

Mechanical Behavior of Ensete ventricosum Fiber Under Tension Loading

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers, 2017
The mechanical behavior of Ensete ventricosum fibers, expressed as the dependency of tension force in relation to the elongation, was determined for fibers with gauge length 50 mm and transformed into general linear mathematical model describing ...

Rectangular capture area to circular combustor scramjet engine [PDF]

open access: yes
A new concept for a scramjet engine design was presented. The inlet transformed a rectangular shaped capture stream into a cross section which was almost circular in shape at the inlet throat or combustor entrance. The inlet inner surface was designed by

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Entanglement islands and cutoff branes from path-integral optimization

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
Recently it was proposed that, the AdS/BCFT correspondence can be simulated by a holographic Weyl transformed CFT2, where the cut-off brane plays the role of the Karch-Randall (KR) brane [1].

Harnessing Fungal Biowelding for Constructing Mycelium‐Engineered Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mycelium‐bound composites (MBCs) offer low‐carbon alternatives for construction, yet interfacial bonding remains a critical challenge. This review examines fungal biowelding as a biocompatible adhesive, elucidating mycelium‐mediated interfacial mechanisms and their role in material assembly. Strategies to optimize biowelding are discussed, highlighting
