Wind Wave Transformation

1989
Wave-induced velocities are the primary driving force for littoral sand transport. For this reason, a major component of the NSTS program was to measure wave associated velocity and elevation fluctuations. A description of the shoaling wave transformation is a necessary ingredient in the development of any sediment transport model.

Three-Winding Transformer Ring-Bus Characteristics

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1942
SUCH hydroelectric projects as the Boulder Dam, Grand Coulee, and that proposed for the St. Lawrence River present serious power limit and short-circuit problems. Each of these developments will be capable of producing over 1,000,000 kw, part of which for each case must be transmitted over 200 miles.

Power Transformers With Concentric Windings

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1936
The influence of basic engineering principles on the evolution of the concentric winding type of high voltage power transformer during the past 2 decades is discussed in this paper with particular reference to 55,000 kva water cooled transformers which will step up 16.3 kv to 287.5 kv at the Boulder Dam power plant.

Winding topology for transformers

IEEE Transactions on Electromagnetic Compatibility, 1988
As one factor to improve the high-frequency performance of pulse transformers, the reduction of the leakage inductances associated with leakage flux between primary and secondary windings is addressed. The author introduces the concept of making such windings out of coaxial (or higher-order multiaxial) cables, with the outer shields of primary and ...

Gauge transformations with fractional winding numbers

Physical Review D, 1996
The role which gauge transformations of noninteger winding numbers might play in non-Abelian gauge theories is studied. The phase factor acquired by the semiclassical physical states in an arbitrary background gauge field when they undergo a gauge transformation of an arbitrary real winding number is calculated in the path integral formalism assuming ...

Winding Transform Matrices

1989
The main purpose of the magnetic equivalent circuit method is to relate phase fluxes to phase currents of an electric machine in a way that will as best as possible reflect all peculiarities of a device. Node potential equations that were derived in the previous chapter helped establish connections between magnetic scalar potentials in a machine and ...

Winding Shape Optimization in Transformers

2019 20th Workshop on Control and Modeling for Power Electronics (COMPEL), 2019
Fringing fields near air gaps in some high-frequency transformers produce significant excess proximity-effect winding loss. We introduce a method that optimizes the winding shape of multi-winding components to reduce these losses. The method accounts for the interactions between different windings and between the windings and the air gaps when the ...

Wind farms modeling files transformation

2010 IEEE International Conference on Automation, Quality and Testing, Robotics (AQTR), 2010
Wind farms modeling software are very important in the process of planning, dimensioning, and developing a wind farm. These applications offer valuable information about some key factors in the process of wind farm creation. The platforms do not offer information just about the placement of the wind farms but also about wind condition, wind resource ...

Separate leakage reactance of transformer windings

Journal of the A.I.E.E., 1925
The paper discusses a method for determining the separate leakage reactances of transformer windings, originally suggested in 1921 by W. V. Lyon.2 The method is applicable only to three-phase banks of three identical transformers, and makes use of the third harmonic electromotive force and current which are introduced into the windings by the inherent ...

Surge Characteristics of Two-Winding Transformers

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1941
THE object of this paper is to show the performance of transformers with two windings in the rapid-transient state when surges develop in their conductors. On the one hand, we will determine the characteristic constants for traveling waves, as surge-impedance and wave velocity, from the data of the transformer.
