Transformer winding diagnostics using deformation coefficient

2008 IEEE Power and Energy Society General Meeting - Conversion and Delivery of Electrical Energy in the 21st Century, 2008
This work presents the use of terminal capacitance measurements to detect deformations in transformer windings. The lumped parameter representation of windings is considered. The deformation coefficient (DC) derived from the measurements is used to detect winding deformations. The extent and location of deformation can also be determined by this method.

Transformer Winding Deformation Diagnosis Based on Signal Distance

2019 22nd International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (ICEMS), 2019
Aiming at the problem that the current frequency response method still lacks an effective tool for consistent quantitative evaluation in data analysis, and the correlation coefficient method cannot judge the deformation of the transformer winding when the measured frequency response curve is the same as the reference frequency response curve with the ...

Transformer winding deformation detection analysis and typical cases

2016 IEEE International Conference on High Voltage Engineering and Application (ICHVE), 2016
The transformer is subjected to the outlet and near area short circuit impact or the transportation in the collision, the winding may appear the distortion. After the winding deformation, the transformer winding may be local insulation failure, in the operation of the formation of partial discharge, under the action of lightning and other over-voltage,

Detection of transformer winding deformations based on continuous wavelet transform

2017 IEEE Calcutta Conference (CALCON), 2017
Accurate diagnosis of winding deformation faults in transformers can significantly enhance the safety and reliability of power systems. Winding deformation is the major reason of failure of transformer. Therefore this paper describes a scheme to detect several winding deformations, present in power transformer.

Deformation simulation and analysis of power transformer windings

2016 IEEE PES Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference (APPEEC), 2016
Power transformers are critical in power systems and the stable operation of power transformers is a vital guarantee of system stability. However, with the development of capacity and voltage level, the external short-circuit fault threats the stable and secure operation of power transformers more seriously than ever before.

Transformer Winding Deformation Diagnosis by Induced Voltage Test

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014
During induction voltage test, the changes of data such as output voltage and output current reflects the changes of the equivalent parameters of the transformer. Through the analysis of testing data, diagnosis of winding deformation of the transformer can be made. Transformer condition evaluation can be provided on the basis of these data.

Practical challenges in online transformer winding deformation diagnostics

2011 2nd International Conference on Electric Power and Energy Conversion Systems (EPECS), 2011
Monitoring and diagnosis of transformers have been investigated and discussed for many years. While transformer routine tests indicate electrical and also insulation weakness or defects, Frequency Response Analysis (FRA) as a modern test can indicate mechanical defects in transformer active part.
