Improved Power Transformer Winding Deformation Fault Diagnosis Method

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014
according to analysing the generation principle of transformer winding deformation and its impact on the vibration signal, and make a large number of trial, it can be found in addition to the fundamental frequency component that can reflect the failure, the new characteristic frequency which conclude 50Hz frequency component and some of its harmonic ...

Deformation analysis of transformer winding by structure parameter

Proceedings of the 7th International Conference on Properties and Applications of Dielectric Materials (Cat. No.03CH37417), 2004
Frequency Response Analysis can be used to detect the transformer winding deformation. Its reliability and standard are studied. A simulation model of transformer winding is developed. The transformer winding is equivalent to a network circuit, and electrical components in the circuit can describe distributed elements of the winding.

Transformer winding radial deformation detection using scattering parameters

2010 IEEE International Conference on Power and Energy, 2010
The method of the on-line monitoring of transformer winding radial deformations using scattering parameters has been discussed in this paper. In this method, the signature of the transformer is the scattering parameters, which are calculated using high frequency simulation software and saved for further analysis as a base case.

Transformer winding deformation diagnostics techniques with statistical approach

2015 International Conference on Communications and Signal Processing (ICCSP), 2015
Monitoring the health of power transformer is important for the reliability of electrical power supply. Conventional tests carried out on power transformers can only detect damage of permanent nature. Frequency Response Analysis (FRA) is found to be a useful tool for reliable detection of incipient mechanical fault in a transformer.

Locating mechanical deformations in electromagnetic model of transformer winding

2014 Eighteenth National Power Systems Conference (NPSC), 2014
This paper presents a diagnostic method for locating and assessing the severity of mechanical deformations in an electromagnetic model of transformer winding. The proposed method involves performing frequency response analysis on the model and capturing its high frequency behaviour through terminal measurement.

Study on ultrasonic measurement device for transformer winding deformation

Proceedings. International Conference on Power System Technology, 2003
A new measurement method for transformer winding deformation is proposed based on the ultrasonic reflection principle. The basic principle for winding deformation measurement, the structure and operation principle of the device are introduced in detail, and the factors, such as oil temperature, oil passages and others, which affect the measurement ...

Online monitoring and diagnosis method of transformer winding deformation

IEEJ Transactions on Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 2019
Winding deformation has become an important factor affecting the safe and stable operation of transformers. Parameters such as winding resistance, leakage inductance, and capacitance will change as a result of winding deformation. Therefore, a method of diagnosis of transformer winding deformation based on the above three parameters is proposed in this

Leakage inductance variation based monitoring of transformer winding deformation

2015 IEEE 15th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering (EEEIC), 2015
When subjected to short circuit, the transformer winding would suffer from considerable large electromagnetic force and then be distorted to a certain degree, in which cases leakage inductance variation can be employed to analyze and determine the situation and severity of the deformation.

Transformer impedence circle character based winding deformation online monitoring

2015 5th International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation and Restructuring and Power Technologies (DRPT), 2015
This paper introduced a novel on-line transformer winding deformation monitoring technology. That is constructing the locus of the voltage difference on both sides of the transformer changes with the primary side current. Results show that the locus is an ellipse and we name it the transformer impedance circle character.

Frequency response analysis to investigate deformation of transformer winding

IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, 2015
This paper discusses the application of Nyquist plot and two statistical indicators to analyze the frequency response of power transformers. Five cases are presented based on both simulations and measurements. These include two types of winding deformation, namely tilting and bending of conductors.
