Influence of IL-10RA and IL-22 polymorphisms on outcome of hepatitis C virus infection.

open access: yes, 2007
BACKGROUND: Two receptor chains, IL-10RA and IL-10RB, are known to mediate the functions of interleukin-10 (IL-10), which has been shown to be involved in the progression of persistent hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. Little information is available on

An Adenoviral‐Vectored Tp0326 Vaccine Elicits Robust Functional Antibodies to Prevent Treponema pallidum Dissemination in a Rabbit Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Vaccination promotes cellular infiltration into primary lesions and effectively inhibits T. pallidum dissemination to distal organs. Notably, transfer of lesion tissue from immunized animals fails to establish infection in naive recipients, confirming specific protective immunity.

Hepatitis E Virus Infection in Solid Organ Transplant Recipients, France

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2017
The rate of transfusion-transmitted hepatitis E virus (HEV) in transplant recipients is unknown. We identified 60 HEV-positive solid organ transplant patients and retrospectively assessed their blood transfusions for HEV.

Hepatitis E Virus in Finland: Epidemiology and Risk in Blood Donors and in the General Population

open access: yesPathogens, 2023
Autochthonous hepatitis E (HEV) cases have been increasingly recognized and reported in Europe, caused predominantly by the zoonotic HEV genotype 3. The clinical picture is highly variable, from asymptomatic to acute severe or prolonged hepatitis in ...

Essential Updates in the Surgical Management of Inflammatory Bowel Disease: Current Topics From 2024 to Mid‐2026

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Inflammatory bowel disease management has undergone a major transformation with the introduction of treat‐to‐target strategies and highly effective biologic and small‐molecule therapies. Although these advances have reduced the overall requirement for surgery, operative intervention remains essential for selected patients with ulcerative ...

HOPE Kids 2: Phase 3, Randomized Trial of Voxelotor in Children With SCD and Conditional Cerebral Blood Flow Velocities

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Children with SCD have elevated stroke risk, correlated with cerebral blood flow velocity (CBFV). HOPE Kids 2 was a phase 3, multicenter, double‐blind, placebo‐controlled trial evaluating the effect of voxelotor on CBFV. Participants aged 2 to < 15 years with SCD (HbSS/HbSβ0) and conditional CBFV (170 to < 200 cm/s) were randomized 1:1 to ...

Targeting B‐Cell‐Activating Factor and Its Receptor in Immune Thrombocytopenia and Warm Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Current treatments for immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) and warm autoimmune hemolytic anemia (wAIHA), rare autoimmune diseases in which autoreactive B cells play a major role, can lead to high response rates; however, for many patients these responses are not durable or maintained after treatment discontinuation.

Risk profiling of hookworm infection and intensity in southern Lao People's Democratic Republic using bayesian models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Among the common soil-transmitted helminth infections, hookworm causes the highest burden. Previous research in the southern part of Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) revealed high prevalence rates of hookworm infection.
