Influence of Firm Risk Propensity on Adoption of Transient Competitive Advantage

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Business and Development Studies
The dynamism of change in business environment sets the stage for firms, including healthcare providers to pursue transient competitive advantage in order to adapt to the complex landscape. Firms with greater inclination towards taking risks are likely to introduce new ideas, embrace advanced technologies, and optimize their processes, resulting in ...

A Surface‐engineered Microfluidic Device for Antibody‐Mediated Negative Selection of High‐Quality Sperm for Assisted Reproduction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports a microfluidic device with a functionalized surface utilizing a polyoxazoline coating and covalently immobilized gold nanoparticles and anti‐phosphatidylserine antibody. The device efficiently eliminates pre‐apoptotic and apoptotic spermatozoa and yields sperm with substantially improved quality and low DNA damage, offering a simple ...

Influence of Technology Endowment on the Adoption of Transient Competitive Advantage by Private Hospitals in Nairobi City County, Kenya

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Business and Development Studies
In the advent of technological growth that is rapid, firms need to continually keep abreast with the innovations in order to maintain their transient advantage. In the paradigm where transient competitive advantage and the frequency of technological endowment grow exponentially, institutions must be able to obtain an advantage through the adoption of ...

Control of Polarization and Polar Helicity in BiFeO3 by Epitaxial Strain and Interfacial Chemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In BiFeO3 thin films, the interplay of interfacial chemistry, electrostatics, and epitaxial strain is engineered to stabilize homohelicity in polarization textures at the domain scale. The synergistic use of a Bi2O2‐terminated Aurivillius buffer layer and a highly anisotropic compressive epitaxial strain offers new routes to control the polar‐texture ...

Disruption of the OsWRKY71 transcription factor gene results in early rice seed germination under normal and cold stress conditions

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology
Background Early seed germination in crops can confer a competitive advantage against weeds and reduce the time to maturation and harvest. WRKY transcription factors regulate many aspects of plant development including seed dormancy and germination. Both

Strain‐Programmable Luminescent Adhesive Patch With Tartrazine‐Mediated Optical Skin Clearing for Photochemical Tissue Bonding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We propose a suture‐complementary approach that integrates optical skin clearing with a strain‐programmable luminescent adhesive patch. Hyaluronic acid promotes transdermal delivery of tartrazine to improve optical clearing and stabilizes its interaction with a photosensitizer. Optical clearing increases the penetration depth of visible light into skin,

Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices Using Molecular Telluride Phase‐Change Inks for Three‐Factor Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.
