Transient Congenital Hypothyroidism in an Infant With Congenital Nephrosis of Finnish Type.

Acta Paediatrica, International Journal of Paediatrics, 1983
ABSTRACT. Congenital hypothyroidism was detected on routine neonatal screening in an infant with congenital nephrosis of Finnish type and followed up for 3 years. The hypothyroidism was transient; clinical and biochemical signs and symptoms disappeared after a 20‐month period of thyroid replacement therapy and partial improvement of nephrotic symptoms.

Permanent and transient congenital hypothyroidism in preterm infants

Acta Paediatrica, 2011
AbstractAim:  Transient fluctuations in thyroid function are well recognized in preterm infants. We wanted to assess TSH variation in babies with transient and permanent congenital hypothyroidism (CHT).Methods:  Whole bloodspot TSH data in preterm infants (<35 weeks; 2005–2010) were assessed, and infants with bloodspot TSH values >6 mU/L ...

Childhood IQ measurements in infants with transient congenital hypothyroidism*

Clinical Endocrinology, 1995

The Impact of Transient Hypothyroidism on the Increasing Rate of Congenital Hypothyroidism in the United States

Pediatrics, 2010
The reported incidence rate of primary congenital hypothyroidism (CH) has been increasing in the United States over the past 2 decades. We have considered the possibility that the inclusion of cases of transient hypothyroidism has inflated the reported incidence rate of CH.

Outcome in three siblings with antibody-mediated transient congenital hypothyroidism

The Journal of Pediatrics, 1995
A woman receiving thyroxine substitution therapy for acquired hypothyroidism caused by autoimmune thyroiditis gave birth to three babies who had transient primary hypothyroidism. All three babies had elevated thyrotropin levels on neonatal screening, but one had normal thyroxine values.

Transient congenital hypothyroidism due to maternal thyrotrophin binding inhibiting immunoglobulin

Journal of Paediatrics and Child Health, 1993
AbstractTransient congenital hypothyroidism due to maternal thyrotrophin binding inhibitor immunoglobulin (TBII), a thyroid‐stimulating hormone (TSH)‐receptor blocking antibody, is described in three male siblings born to a mother with autoimmune thyroiditis. These cases are believed to be the first described in Australia.

Congenital Familial Transient Hypothyroidism Secondary to Transplacental Throtropin-Blocking Autoantibodies

Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, 1987
Three patients demonstrated transient neonatal hypothyroidism, presumably secondary to maternally derived thyrotropin (TSH)-blocking antibodies. Although transient, this disorder might not have been benign in the first child, who exhibited significant developmental delay. A thyroid scan was not helpful in making this diagnosis.
