Transient Pressure Estimation Using Data-Driven Models: An Approach Based on Ensemble Trees

open access: yesEngineering Proceedings
The operation of control devices in a water distribution network establishes a transient flow that leads to pressure oscillation during a certain time. Depending on the pressure wave’s amplitude, infrastructure can be exposed to dangerous pressure levels,

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

Coupling Mechanisms Between Vortex Rope Evolution and Cavitation Within the Draft Tube of Pump-turbines [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics
A technique integrating numerical simulations with experimental observations was hereby employed to elucidate the flow instability mechanisms during transient processes in pump-turbines, and a reversible pump-turbine was investigated for in-depth ...

Condensation risk: comparison of steady-state and transient methods [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Accurate assessment of both surface and interstitial condensation risk is important not only to reduce the damaging effect of moisture within the structure of buildings, but also to provide a healthy environment free from mould growth.

Inhibition of CDK9 enhances AML cell death induced by combined venetoclax and azacitidine

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The CDK9 inhibitor AZD4573 downregulates c‐MYC and MCL‐1 to induce death of cytarabine (AraC)‐resistant AML cells. This enhances VEN + AZA‐induced cell death significantly more than any combination of two of the three drugs in AraC‐resistant AML cells.

Numerical Simulation of Transient Behavior of Downhole Centrifugal Supercharging Device during Flow Sharp Reduction Process

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2017
The complex and changeable downhole environment makes the robot conveying tool is easy to stuck, leading to the instantaneous work abrupt change of robot. In order to study the influence of flow abrupt change on the external transient characteristics and

Analysis of the transient compressible vapor flow in heat pipe [PDF]

open access: yes
The transient compressible one-dimensional vapor flow dynamics in a heat pipe is modeled. The numerical results are obtained by using the implicit non-iterative Beam-Warming finite difference method. The model is tested for simulated heat pipe vapor flow

Transient situations in traffic flow: Modelling the Mexico City Cuernavaca Highway

open access: yes, 2005
In this paper a recent variable anticipation cellular automata model for single-lane traffic flow is extended to analyze the situation of free and congested flow in the Highway from Mexico City to Cuernavaca.

Modeling the transient flow of undercooled glass-forming liquids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
n a recent experimental study on flow behavior of Vitreloy-1 (Zr41.25Ti13.75Cu12.5Ni10Be22.5), three distinct modes of flow are suggested: Newtonian, non-Newtonian, and localized flow.
