Counterpropagating dipole-mode vector soliton

open access: yes, 2005
We experimentally observe a counterpropagating dipole-mode vector soliton in a photorefractive SBN:60Ce crystal. We investigate the transient formation dynamics and show that the formation process differs significantly from the copropagating geometry ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Time-dependent screening of a positive charge distribution in metals: Excitons on an ultra-short time scale

open access: yes, 2000
Experiments determining the lifetime of excited electrons in crystalline copper reveal states which cannot be interpreted as Bloch states [S. Ogawa {\it et al.}, Phys. Rev. B {\bf 55}, 10869 (1997)].

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Estudio de fenómenos transitorios en circuitos eléctricos de primer orden; Study of transient phenomena in first order circuits

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Chaotic Analysis of the Reversible Pump Turbine Exhaust Process in Pump Mode Based on a Data-driven Method [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics
Due to the important strategic position of Pumped Storage Power Plants (PSPP) in global energy upgrading, conducting in-depth research on the various operating conditions of pump turbine units is important for their safe and stable operation.

Zero overshoot and fast transient response using a fuzzy logic controller [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In some industrial process control systems it is desirable not to allow an overshoot beyond the setpoint or a threshold, this could be a safety constraint or the requirement of the system.
