Transient Response of a Dipole Antenna

Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1962
The transient current in a long dipole antenna excited by a step-function voltage across an infinitesimal center gap has recently been calculated by Wu. A simpler derivation of Wu's result is given using double Fourier transformation.

Analytical Models for Transient Responses in the Retina

2009
We propose analytical models for slow potentials transients as they are recorded at different layers of the retina, but mostly as they are integrated to produce ganglion cells outputs. First, two possible pathways from photoreceptors to bipolars and to ganglia are formulated, their formal equivalence being shown for quasi-linear behaviour.

Determination of Transient Response From Frequency Response

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1954
Abstract When calculating the transient response of a control loop by means of the classical differential-equation method, the solution of the characteristic equation and the determination of the integration constants becomes extremely difficult for complicated configurations. If the operational calculus, i.e., the Laplace transformation,

Transient Response of Phosphors

IRE Transactions on Component Parts, 1958
The transient behavior of cathode-ray tube phosphors is of considerable interest in many applications, such as the improvement of the signal-to-noise ratio in radars. Although material appears in the literature concerning the decay characteristics a short time after the excitation is switched off, very little appears regarding the buildup ...

Approximation of transient response

Electrical Engineering, 1953
ALTHOUGH FEEDBACK CONTROL design requirements usually specify the output time response to some standard form of input, the design process commonly is performed on a frequency response basis. The existing wealth of knowledge and experience in steady-state a-c circuit theory and in feedback amplifier performance justifies this design procedure.

The Zeros of Transient Responses

IRE Transactions on Circuit Theory, 1961
This paper considers the zeros of the transient responses corresponding to rational Laplace transforms whose poles are all real and whose zeros are allowed to be either real or complex. The possible values for the number of zeros of the transient responses are determined under various assumptions on the Laplace transforms.

Monotonic transient response

Proceedings of the IEE - Part IV: Institution Monographs, 1954
The paper considers the restrictions which must be placed on the poles and zeros of a system function of a linear system with lumped constants in order that the response of the system to a step-function drive should be monotonic. Necessary and sufficient restrictions are derived for a system function (driving-function/response-function) containing up ...
