Transient Stability Assessment For Unbalanced Faults
Proceedings II of the 27st Conference STUDENT EEICT 2021, 2021The paper describes the model applicable for transient stability assessment for unbalancedfaults. The model itself is derived using symmetrical component representation of the grid. Sensitivityanalysis of zero sequence line reactance, fault location and line length was done using the builtmodel, the influence of unbalanced faults was discussed.

Online Transient Stability Assessment
2014With the advent of deregulation in the power industry and a lack of transmission investment, today’s power systems are operated much closer to their limits. Stressed system conditions mean that operators are faced with scenarios that never occurred in the past.

Fast Transient Stability Assessment Revisited
IEEE Power Engineering Review, 1986Energy Liapunov-like criteria are devised, their essential characteristics are assessed, and, depending upon the particular needs they are called to meet, the most appropriate among them are identified. The criteria derive from the conjunction of various Liapunov-like functions ("global", "individual", and Taylor series based ones) with two different ...

Probabilistic considerations in transient stability assessment
Canadian Electrical Engineering Journal, 1979Discusses transient stability evaluation of a power system from a probabilistic viewpoint. The random nature of the basic factor such as the type, location, and clearance of faults which affect the transient stability performance is demonstrated.

ATC Assessment with transient stability constraints
2008 IEEE 25th Convention of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in Israel, 2008The liberalization of the electricity market has generated significant changes in the planning, operation and management of electric power systems. The open accesses for Independent Power Producers (IPP) results in possible dynamic problems due to the small security margin that characterize competitive markets.

Stability criteria for trajectory simulation in transient stability assessment
Proceedings of TENCON '93. IEEE Region 10 International Conference on Computers, Communications and Automation, 2002In this paper, novel and efficient stopping criteria for power system post-fault trajectory simulation are proposed for expediting the speed of transient stability assessment (TSA). Based on the criteria, an algorithm is developed to determine the critical clearing time (CCT) for a multimachine power system.

Corrected transient energy function and transient stability limit assessment
2000 IEEE Power Engineering Society Winter Meeting. Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.00CH37077), 2002This paper reports the developments in the methodology for analysis of transient stability limit conditions. Concepts, including corrected potential energy and corrected potential energy boundary surface, are presented. Efficient criteria in identifying first swing stability behavior are also developed and used in hybrid method incorporating corrected ...

v-SVM for transient stability assessment in power systems
Proceedings Autonomous Decentralized Systems, 2005. ISADS 2005., 2005In this paper, support vector machines (SVMs) are studied in the application of transient stability assessment in power systems. SVMs have the following advantages: automatic determination of the number of hidden neurons, fast convergence rate, good generalization capability, etc.

Transient stability assessment: an artificial neural network approach
Proceedings of ICNN'95 - International Conference on Neural Networks, 2002A general artificial neural network (ANN) approach for constructing multilayered feedforward networks (MFNs) is developed based on formulated ANN principles and methodologies. The general ANN approach is applied to develop a proposed ANN system for fault type identification, fault location and critical clearing time estimations in the context of power ...

Use of Voltage Stability Assessment and Transient Stability Assessment Tools at PJM Interconnection
2021Over the past few decades, PJM has moved voltage, transient, and dynamic stability analysis—historically the domain of planners and back-office engineers—into the control room. PJM utilizes the Real-Time Transfer Limit Calculator (RTTLC) to perform voltage stability analysis and determine operation limits.
