Since these large‐scale renewable power generation (RPGs) stations are always located far away from load centres, voltage source converters (VSCs) always operate in weak‐grid connected conditions, due to the long distance of transmission line and ...

A study of the transient synchronization stability of PLL-GFC-based MMC-HVDC systems
Phase-locked loop-based grid-forming converters (PLL-GFCs) can regulate frequency and voltage. However, the transient synchronization stability after their connection to the high-voltage AC power grid is unclear.

Three Technical Challenges Faced by Power Systems in Transition
In the 21st century, the worldwide concern about global warming has forced energy to transform in the direction of low-carbon and non-carbon. The utilization of renewable energy is developing rapidly, which makes the non-synchronous generator sources ...

Synchronization and transient stability in power networks and non-uniform Kuramoto oscillators [PDF]
Motivated by recent interest for multi-agent systems and smart power grid architectures, we discuss the synchronization problem for the network-reduced model of a power system with non-trivial transfer conductances. Our key insight is to exploit the relationship between the power network model and a first-order model of coupled oscillators.

Transient Stability of Paralleled Virtual Synchronous Generator and Grid-following Inverter
The majority of inverter-based resources (IBRs) currently operate as grid-following inverters (GFLIs). These inverters exhibit certain stability issues when integrated in low-strength areas of the grid. To enhance the grid strength in a GFLI-dominant area, virtual synchronous generators (VSGs) are installed.
