Transportation Planning and TRANSIMS Microsimulation Model: Preparing for the Transition
Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2001The Transportation Analysis and Simulation System (TRANSIMS) was developed as a replacement for the four-step travel demand model. The goal was to provide a simulation system that could analyze issues facing transportation planners such as sustainable development, environmental impacts of proposed projects, and intelligent transportation systems ...

Calibration for TRANSIMS model considering mean and standard deviation value of data
2015 34th Chinese Control Conference (CCC), 2015Microscopic traffic flow models have been widely used in decision making and evaluation of real transportation systems and the models must be calibrated before use in order to content the credibility of decision and evaluation. For a kind of microscopic traffic flow model (Transportation analysis and simulation system model, TRANSIMS), a new optimal ...

We describe and analyze empirically an implementation of some generalizations of Dijkstra's algorithm for shortest paths in graphs. The implementation formed a part of the TRANSIMS project at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. Besides offering the first implementation of the shortest path algorithm with regular language constraints, our code also ...

Bridge and highway construction is a main cause of congestion due to traffic disruption or reduction of traffic capacity from partial or complete lane closure. Currently its mobility impacts and travel pattern changes are analyzed mostly by microscopic traffic simulation models to develop appropriate mitigation measures.

TRANSIM‐A GENERAL PURPOSE PROBLEM SOLVING TOOL
Naval Engineers Journal, 1973ABSTRACTThis paper describes TRANSIM simulation a a method for solving problems. There is a brief discussion of modeling and its importance. TRANSIM is compared with other general purpose simulators, special purpose simulation, and network analysis techniques such as PERT/CPM. Data requirements for TRANSIM applications are discussed, and a few examples

TranSim: A Simulation Framework for Cache-Enabled Transparent Computing Systems
IEEE Transactions on Computers, 2016The growing demand on the performance of transparent computing systems requires good cache schemes in order to overcome the prolonged network latency. However, evaluating cache schemes, especially measuring the performance of a transparent computing system with particular cache scheme remains challenging.

What makes a simulation useful? [TRANSIMS]
IEEE SMC'99 Conference Proceedings. 1999 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics (Cat. No.99CH37028), 2003Modern computers make possible a new blending of systems, man, and cybernetics in the detailed simulation of large sociotechnical systems. Several such simulations are currently under development at Los Alamos National Laboratory and elsewhere. When deployed, they will affect the daily lives of hundreds of millions of people and the allocation of ...

Project TRANSIM. A Ten-Year Progress Report
1974Abstract : The report discusses the significant accomplishments of Project TRANSIM at the University of California, Los Angeles, during the ten-year period ending December 31, 1973. The research and development program is an extension and expansion of earlier work at UCLA and concentrated on further development of general-purpose computer simulation as

Application of Dynamic Value Pricing through Enhancements to TRANSIMS
Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2007In the past decade, transportation agencies have become increasingly interested in a high-occupancy toll (HOT) lane value pricing system, especially one with a dynamically varying toll system that depends on the congestion levels in the HOT lanes. HOT lane users are influenced by many factors, including toll prices, savings in time, and purpose of the ...
