Multi‐Factor Taxonomy of Eco‐Routing Models and Future Outlook

open access: yesJournal of Sensors, Volume 2020, Issue 1, 2020., 2020
Traditionally, routing decisions have been based on minimizing travel time as the associated cost. Eco‐routing considers the environmental aspects (e.g., emissions and fuel) as part of the travel cost to mitigate the undesirable impact of transportation systems on the environment.

A comparison of microscopic traffic flow simulation systems for an urban area [PDF]

open access: yesTransport Problems, 2010
The paper compares the results of an application of three selected systems (TRANSIMS, SUMO, and VISSIM) to the microscopic simulation of traffic flow for a fragment of a real urban road network.

Traffic Multiresolution Modeling and Consistency Analysis of Urban Expressway Based on Asynchronous Integration Strategy

open access: yesModelling and Simulation in Engineering, Volume 2017, Issue 1, 2017., 2017
The paper studies multiresolution traffic flow simulation model of urban expressway. Firstly, compared with two‐level hybrid model, three‐level multiresolution hybrid model has been chosen. Then, multiresolution simulation framework and integration strategies are introduced.

Mathematical Models in Humanitarian Supply Chain Management: A Systematic Literature Review

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, Volume 2016, Issue 1, 2016., 2016
In the past decade the humanitarian supply chain (HSC) has attracted the attention of researchers due to the increasing frequency of disasters. The uncertainty in time, location, and severity of disaster during predisaster phase and poor conditions of available infrastructure during postdisaster phase make HSC operations difficult to handle.

An Integrated Contraflow Strategy for Multimodal Evacuation

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, Volume 2014, Issue 1, 2014., 2014
To improve the efficiency of multimodal evacuation, a network aggregation method and an integrated contraflow strategy are proposed in this paper. The network aggregation method indicates the uncertain evacuation demand on the arterial subnetwork and balances accuracy and efficiency by refining the local road subnetworks.

A Simulation‐Based Framework for the Cooperation of VMS Travel Guidance and Traffic Signal Control

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, Volume 2014, Issue 1, 2014., 2014
Nowadays, both travel guidance systems and traffic signal control systems are quite common for urban traffic management. In order to achieve collaborative effect, different models had been proposed in the last two decades. In recent years, with the development of variable message sign (VMS) technology, more and more VMS panels are installed on major ...

Implementation of CAVENET and Its Usage for Performance Evaluation of AODV, OLSR and DYMO Protocols in Vehicular Networks

open access: yesMobile Information Systems, Volume 6, Issue 3, Page 213-227, 2010., 2010
Vehicle Ad‐hoc Network (VANET) is a kind of Mobile Ad‐hoc Network (MANET) that establishes wireless connection between cars. In VANETs and MANETs, the topology of the network changes very often, therefore implementation of efficient routing protocols is very important problem.

A Mobility and Traffic Generation Framework for Modeling and Simulating Ad Hoc Communication Networks

open access: yesScientific Programming, Volume 12, Issue 1, Page 1-23, 2004., 2004
We present a generic mobility and traffic generation framework that can be incorporated into a tool for modeling and simulating large scale ad~hoc networks. Three components of this framework, namely a mobility data generator (MDG), a graph structure generator (GSG) and an occlusion modification tool (OMT) allow a variety of mobility models to be ...

Evaluating Emission Reduction Policies along an Urban Arterial Highway Using the AIMSUN Model

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Transportation, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
The rapid growth of cities and the increasing traffic congestion have made vehicle emissions worse, especially in developing countries. Governments worldwide are now relying on regulations and policies to manage and reduce these emissions effectively. This change in approach towards emission control is also happening in developing nations.
