Quantum Emitters in Hexagonal Boron Nitride: Principles, Engineering and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Quantum emitters in hexagonal boron nitride have emerged as a promising candidate for quantum information science. This review examines the fundamentals of these quantum emitters, including their level structures, defect engineering, and their possible chemical structures.

Transit navigation through Northern Sea Route from satellite data and CMIP5 simulations

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2017
Rapid Arctic sea ice decline over the last few decades opens new perspectives for Arctic marine navigation. Further warming in the Arctic will promote the Northern Sea Route (NSR) as an alternative to the conventional Suez or Panama Canal routes for ...

The Hunt for Exomoons with Kepler (HEK): II. Analysis of Seven Viable Satellite-Hosting Planet Candidates

open access: yes, 2013
From the list of 2321 transiting planet candidates announced by the Kepler Mission, we select seven targets with favorable properties for the capacity to dynamically maintain an exomoon and present a detectable signal.

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Validation of the new Hipparcos reduction

open access: yes, 2007
Context.A new reduction of the astrometric data as produced by the Hipparcos mission has been published, claiming accuracies for nearly all stars brighter than magnitude Hp = 8 to be better, by up to a factor 4, than in the original catalogue.

Single Pair of Weyl Points Evolve From Spin Group‐Protected Nodal Line in Half‐Metallic Ferromagnet V3S4

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A spin group (SG)‐based mechanism is proposed to realize a single pair of Weyl points. PT‐symmetric nodal lines (NLs) persist under T‐breaking, protected by the combination of SG and P symmetry. When considering spin‐orbit coupling, the SG‐protected NL will split into Weyl points, which will also induce anomalous transport phenomena arising from ...
