Dielectronic recombination satellite transitions in dense plasmas

Journal of Quantitative Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer, 2000
Abstract Radiative and dielectronic recombination of multiply charged many-electron ions in high-temperature plasmas are usually treated as independent, non-interfering processes. A projection-operator and resolvent-operator approach has been developed to provide a fundamental, unified quantum-mechanical description of the combined electron–ion photo-

Precise time recovery from transit satellites

Radio Science, 1979
An instrument using time signals from the Navy Navigation Satellite System (Transit) to derive precise time referenced to the U.S. Naval Observatory (USNO) master clock is described. The two sources of system time error, receiver detection error and spacecraft timekeeping error, are analyzed.

17O satellite transition spectroscopy of amorphous SiO2

Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 1993
Abstract The increase of spectral resolution of the 3 2 ↔ 1 2 (− 1 2 ↔ − 3 2 satellite transition spinning sidebands of 17 O NMR has been demonstrated for amorphous SiO 2 . Even for large quadrupole coupling constants ( C Q ≈ 5 MHz), the spinning sidebands can be observed.

Wavelength predictions for the 1s2 2p - 1s2p3p satellite transitions

Solar Physics, 1986
The experimentally known energies of the 1s22s → 1s2s(1S, 3S)3p transitions are considered for lithium to calcium. Their differences from the corresponding He-like resonances are fitted to the atomic number by means of a polynomial function and, through interpolation, the wavelengths for nitrogen to sodium are calculated.

Satellite NMR in Cu doped with transition impurities

Journal of Applied Physics, 1979
My students and post-docs have made measurements of the conduction electron spin magnetization density, Mσ(R↘) near iron group atoms (Sc through Ni) in Cu. Mσ(R↘) produces an additional effective local field which shifts the NMR frequency of nearby shells of Cu nuclei relative to Cu nuclei far from all impurities.

Vibrational satellites of γ-transitions of nuclei in molecules

Physics Letters A, 1973
Abstract The recoil effect of γ-quantum for nuclei in molecule has influence on the moleculer vibrations. As a result, the vibrational satellites occur in the spectrum of the γ-radiation of a nucleus in molecule. The quantum calculation of the probability of γ-nuclear transitions in a molecule with its vibrational state being changed is presented.
