Measurement of Linear Stark Interference in 199Hg
We present measurements of Stark interference in the 6$^1S_0$ $\rightarrow$ 6$^3P_1$ transition in $^{199}$Hg, a process whereby a static electric field $E$ mixes magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole couplings into an electric dipole transition ...

Finite nuclear mass corrections to electric and magnetic interactions in diatomic molecules [PDF]
In order to interpret precise measurements of molecular properties the finite nuclear mass corrections to the Born-Oppenheimer approximation have to be accounted for. It is shown that they can be obtained systematically in the perturbative approach.

Electric-field-controlled phase transition in a 2D molecular layer
Self-assembly of organic molecules is a mechanism crucial for design of molecular nanodevices. We demonstrate unprecedented control over the self-assembly, which could allow switching and patterning at scales accessible by lithography techniques.

Probing neutrino dipole portal at COHERENT experiment
Motivated by the first observation of coherent-elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering at the COHERENT experiment, we confront the neutrino dipole portal giving rise to the transition of the standard model neutrinos to sterile neutrinos with the recently ...

The role of various alloying elements in face‐centered cubic aluminum on the barrier of a Shockley partial dislocation during its motion is presented. The study aims to understand how alloying atoms such as Mg, Si, and Zr affect the energy landscape for dislocation motion, thus influencing the solid solution hardening and softening in aluminum, which ...

Searching for physics beyond the Standard Model through the dipole interaction
The magnetic dipole interaction played a central role in the development of QED, and continued in that role for the Standard Model. The muon anomalous magnetic moment has served as a benchmark for models of new physics, and the present experimental value

B-field Determination from Magnetoacoustic Oscillations in kHz QPO Neutron Star Binaries: Theory and Observations [PDF]
We present a method for determining the B-field around neutron stars based on observed kHz and viscous QPO frequencies used in combination with the best-fit optical depth and temperature of a Comptonization model. In the framework of the transition layer

Annular semiconductor structures, or “quantum rings”, are of interest for quantum information and photonics applications. Here, the authors show that breaking rotational symmetry through elongation generates an in-plane optical transition dipole moment ...

In this study, the interplay of dipolar dynamics and ionic charge transport in MOF compounds is investigated. Synthesizing the novel structure CFA‐25 with integrated freely rotating dipolar groups, local and macroscopic effects, including interactions with Cs cations are explored.
