The problem of transition radiation has been revisited in terms of reflection and transmission of the radiation magnetic field based on Fresnel's formula. In contrast to the prediction made a half century ago, transition radiation does not vanish in the direction perpendicular to the charged particle trajectory (θ = π /2). PACS No.: 42.20

Il Nuovo Cimento D, 1985
A treatment of transition radiation between two dielectric media is presented which is based on the exact expressions for the fields of the particle in the two media. Expressions for the spectral distribution of the energy emitted forward and for that emitted backward are derived.

Terahertz transition radiation
Infrared and Millimeter Waves, Conference Digest of the 2004 Joint 29th International Conference on 2004 and 12th International Conference on Terahertz Electronics, 2004., 2006We report on the observation of transition radiation generated by short optical pulses crossing the boundary between linear and non-linear materials. Unlike transition radiation observed with moving charges, we observe terahertz generation at the boundary between two media traversed by a femtosecond optical pulses.

The seventh workshop on advanced accelerator concepts, 1997
A new method for laser acceleration is proposed based upon the inverse process of transition radiation. The laser beam intersects an electron-beam traveling between two thin foils. The principle of this acceleration method is explored in terms of its classical and quantum bases and its inverse process.

Transition of Radiation Field in a Radiation Layer
Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 1980Transition of a radiation field is theoretically studied in a radiation layer. A steady one-dimensional problem of radiative heat transfer is considered through a gray absorbing, emitting and scattering medium in a semi-infinite space bounded by a plate, which is gray and semitransparent. Through the plate, a beam is imposed perpendicularly in addition

Transition radiation in EELS and cathodoluminescence
Ultramicroscopy, 2017The excitation probability of transition radiation is measured for varying beam energies in a transmission electron microscope once using optical spectrometry of the emitted light and second using electron energy loss spectrometry. In both cases similar results are found being in good agreement with theory.
