Low-Velocity-Favored Transition Radiation [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2023
When a charged particle penetrates through an optical interface, photon emissions emerge-a phenomenon known as transition radiation. Being paramount to fundamental physics, transition radiation has enabled many applications from high-energy particle identification to novel light sources.

Coherent transition radiation

17th International Conference on Infrared and Millimeter Waves, 2017
We have obtained a new kind of light source, coherent transition radiation, using linear accel- erators and have examined its properties. It will be useful for IR and MM wave spectroscopy owing to its continuous spectrum and its picosecond duration. It will also be useful for analysis of a bunch shape of charged particles.

Conversion of Cherenkov Radiation to Transition Radiation by Electron Bunch Post-Acceleration for Extremely Efficient Beam–Wave Interaction

IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, 2022
A super klystron-like relativistic backward wave oscillator (RBWO) is presented. In the device, the distributed Cherenkov radiation generated in the slow wave structure (SWS) is absorbed by the electron bunch in the last corrugation and re-accelerated ...
