Terahertz transition radiation
Infrared and Millimeter Waves, Conference Digest of the 2004 Joint 29th International Conference on 2004 and 12th International Conference on Terahertz Electronics, 2004., 2006We report on the observation of transition radiation generated by short optical pulses crossing the boundary between linear and non-linear materials. Unlike transition radiation observed with moving charges, we observe terahertz generation at the boundary between two media traversed by a femtosecond optical pulses.

The problem of transition radiation has been revisited in terms of reflection and transmission of the radiation magnetic field based on Fresnel's formula. In contrast to the prediction made a half century ago, transition radiation does not vanish in the direction perpendicular to the charged particle trajectory (θ = π /2). PACS No.: 42.20

The seventh workshop on advanced accelerator concepts, 1997
A new method for laser acceleration is proposed based upon the inverse process of transition radiation. The laser beam intersects an electron-beam traveling between two thin foils. The principle of this acceleration method is explored in terms of its classical and quantum bases and its inverse process.

Transition radiation detectors
2020Abstract The rearrangement of the electromagnetic field of a charged particle at a transition between media with different electric permittivity leads to the emission of electromagnetic radiation, so-called transition radiation. The chapter begins with the description of the characteristics of the radiation at a boundary, such as angular

Transition radiation detectors
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 1993The use of transition radiation (TR) as a means of identifying high energy particles has now become a subject of intensive experimental investigations and applications. Our intention is first to study the physics of these phenomena and to describe ways of building detectors which can efficiently identify particles.

Observation of coherent transition radiation
Physical Review Letters, 1991Coherent transition radiation, generated by the passage of mm-long bunches of electrons through a thin metal foil, has been observed in the far infrared. The intensity was compared to the smaller amount of Cherenkov radiation produced when ${\mathrm{SF}}_{6}$ gas was introduced into the electron path.

Observation of Stimulated Transition Radiation
Physical Review Letters, 1996Stimulated, coherent transition radiation (STR) has been observed at the Stanford SUNSHINE facility. Far-infrared light pulses of coherent transition radiation emitted from femtosecond electron bunches are recycled in a special cavity to arrive back at the radiator coincident with subsequent incoming electron bunches. This overlap enables the electrons

Il Nuovo Cimento D, 1985
A treatment of transition radiation between two dielectric media is presented which is based on the exact expressions for the fields of the particle in the two media. Expressions for the spectral distribution of the energy emitted forward and for that emitted backward are derived.
