The transition of the northern stratospheric circulation from winter to summer comes in two flavours, a smooth late one governed by radiation or an abrupt, early transition forced by dynamics, suggests a composite analysis of reanalyses from 1950 to 2020.

Scalar Synchrotron Radiation in the Schwarzschild-anti-de Sitter Geometry [PDF]
We present a complete relativistic analysis for the scalar radiation emitted by a particle in circular orbit around a Schwarzschild-anti-de Sitter black hole.

Transition radiation on a dynamic periodic interface [PDF]
We investigate the transition radiation on a periodically deformed interface between two dielectric media. Under the assumption that the dielectric permittivities of the media are close, a formula is derived for the spectral-angular distribution of the radiated energy in the general case of non-static profile function for the separating boundary.

Transition Radiation of the Neutrino Magnetic Moment [PDF]
If the neutrino has a finite mass and a magnetic moment it would produce transition radiation when crossing the interface between two media. We found that the probability of transition radiation is larger by an order of magnitude using the quantum theory than that recently reported by one of us using classical electrodynamics, and that the energy ...

Microbial exopolysaccharide production by polyextremophiles in the adaptation to multiple extremes
Polyextremophiles are microorganisms that endure multiple extreme conditions by various adaptation strategies that also include the production of exopolysaccharides (EPSs). This review provides an integrated perspective on EPS biosynthesis, function, and regulation in these organisms, emphasizing their critical role in survival and highlighting their ...

Aspects of Metal Surface Glowing Mechanisms with Intensive Electron Beam Bombardment [PDF]
The paper gives a brief description and analysis of the main physical processes which can have an effect on the glowing nature of metal element surfaces in different electric vacuum devices when they are bombarded by electron beams.

Compton Scattered Transition Radiation from Very High Energy Particles
X-ray transition radiation can be used to measure the Lorentz factor of relativistic particles. At energies approaching gamma = E/mc^2 = 10^5, transition radiation detectors (TRDs) can be optimized by using thick (sim 5 - 10 mil) foils with large (5-10 ...
