Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Dirty two-band superconductivity with interband pairing order

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2018
We study theoretically the effects of random nonmagnetic impurities on the superconducting transition temperature T _c in a two-band superconductor characterized by an equal-time s -wave interband pairing order parameter.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

pH-sensitive tunable thermochromic hydrogel with carbon quantum dots for smart windows

open access: yesNational Science Open
Thermoresponsive hydrogels have been designed for smart windows to dynamically modulate solar radiation, but their inherent drawbacks of long response time and imperfectly matched phase transition temperature have limited their wide applications.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Enhanced magnetization in Y substituted Bi0.94Sm0.06FeO3 multiferroic ceramics

open access: yesKuwait Journal of Science, 2020
The compounds Bi0.94Sm0.06FeO3, Bi0.92Sm0.06Y0.02FeO3, Bi0.90Sm0.06Y0.04FeO3, and Bi0.88Sm0.06Y0.06FeO3 were found to have the rhombohedral perovskite-like structure. The structural parameters were extracted from the X-ray diffraction data.

Research of the tolerable pulsed power of silicon p+–p–n+-structure [PDF]

open access: yesTekhnologiya i Konstruirovanie v Elektronnoi Apparature, 2011
The conducted researches of the thermal parameters of the silicon p+–p–n+-structure under the influence of the pulse signal have shown that the structure thermal resistance decreases in proportion to the decrease in the thickness of the base region and ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve
