A rare malignant hepatic tumor of childhood: transitional liver cell tumor revisited

open access: yesJournal of the Belgian Society of Radiology, 2015
Transitional liver cell tumor is an extremely rare entity and has a poor prognosis. It has similar histopathologic findings with hepatoblastoma and hepatocellular carcinoma. Up to now, only 10 cases have been reported in the literature. We report on an 8-

Nano‐ and Micro‐Sized Solid Materials Used as Antiviral Agents

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Due to the rise of viral infections in humans and possible viral outbreaks, the use of nano‐ or micro‐sized materials as antiviral agents is rapidly increasing. This review explores their antiviral properties against RNA and DNA viruses, either as a prevention or a treatment tool, by delving into their mechanisms of action and how to properly assess ...

HAGE, a cancer/testis antigen expressed at the protein level in a variety of cancers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The search for novel tumour antigens that are either uniquely expressed or over-expressed in a wide variety of tumours is still ongoing. Because of their expression in a broad spectrum of cancers and limited expression in normal tissues, cancer/testis ...

Squamous cell carcinoma of the oral cavity with metastasis to the urinary bladder

open access: yesIndian Journal of Urology, 2006
Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the oral cavity with metastasis to the urinary bladder is an unreported phenomenon. There are a few reports of transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder metastasizing to the oral cavity, though very rare.

Gold Nanoclusters as Dual Agents for Engineering Tumor Vascular Leakiness and Performing Photothermal Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Many cancer nanotherapeutics, while potent, suffer from the inability to escape from the tumor vasculature, especially in the absence of endothelial permeability. In this work, ultrasmall gold nanoclusters could engineer nanomaterials induced endothelial leakiness (NanoEL) and harness strong NIR induced photothermal characteristics to suppress tumor ...

MagPiezo: A Magnetogenetic Platform for Remote Activation of Endogenous Piezo1 Channels in Endothelial Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MagPiezo enables wireless activation of endogenous Piezo1 channels without genetic modification using 19 nm magnetic nanoparticles and low‐intensity magnetic fields. It generates torque forces at the piconewton scale to trigger mechanotransduction in endothelial cells, standing as a novel platform to interrogate and manipulate Piezo1 activity in vitro.
