Fastest mixing Markov chain on graphs with symmetries

open access: yes, 2007
We show how to exploit symmetries of a graph to efficiently compute the fastest mixing Markov chain on the graph (i.e., find the transition probabilities on the edges to minimize the second-largest eigenvalue modulus of the transition probability matrix).

Topological and variational modularity: A case study using the pectoral girdle across the Chrosomus eos‐neogaeus hybridization complex

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Modularity and integration are key developmental properties and have remained central in evo‐devo research because of how they relate to evolvability. While modularity and integration have commonly been assessed with landmark‐based geometric morphometrics (GMM), other methods such as anatomical network analysis (AnNA) are increasingly being ...

Synergistic Effects of Tech‐Enabled Capabilities for Sustainability in Road Freight Transportation

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Road freight transportation is a crucial enabler of the global economy due to its cost and flexibility advantages. However, road freight transportation also significantly impacts the environment, contributing to greenhouse gas emissions, traffic congestion, and pollution.

3580 What percent of unnecessary ED visits for chronic conditions can be reduced by extant telemedicine devices?

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Translational Science, 2019
OBJECTIVES/SPECIFIC AIMS: This study will elucidate what percent of unnecessary ED visits for chronic conditions can be reduced by extant telemedicine devices, and which telemedicine devices can yield the greatest reduction in unnecessary ED visits for ...

Carbon‐Cutting Chess: Strategizing Resilient Low‐Carbon Investments for Supply Chains

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This research presents a novel empirical and analytical method for strategizing low‐carbon investment strategies (LCIS) in supply chains, viewed through the lens of sustainable and resilient efficiency. The study develops a clear, actionable framework for identifying, evaluating, and implementing LCIS by using a mixed‐methods design.

Strongly regular edge-transitive graphs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In this paper, we examine the structure of vertex- and edge-transitive strongly regular graphs, using normal quotient reduction. We show that the irreducible graphs in this family have quasiprimitive automorphism groups, and prove (using the ...

On Reductions from Multi-Domain Noninterference to the Two-Level Case

open access: yes, 2016
The literature on information flow security with respect to transitive policies has been concentrated largely on the case of policies with two security domains, High and Low, because of a presumption that more general policies can be reduced to this two ...

Efficacy and Safety of Lisdexamfetamine Versus Topiramate Versus Naltrexone/Bupropion in Individuals With Binge Eating Disorder: A Network Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesEuropean Eating Disorders Review, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To compare the efficacy and safety of lisdexamfetamine, topiramate, and naltrexone/bupropion for treating binge eating disorder (BED) using network meta‐analysis. Method We systematically searched PubMed, Scopus, ClinicalTrials.gov, and Cochrane Central up to February 2025 for randomized controlled trials evaluating these medications

Algorithmic and Hardness Results for the Colorful Components Problems

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper we investigate the colorful components framework, motivated by applications emerging from comparative genomics. The general goal is to remove a collection of edges from an undirected vertex-colored graph $G$ such that in the resulting graph

Decoupling Firm Growth From Carbon Emissions: A Supply Network Role Perspective

open access: yesJournal of Operations Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT To achieve meaningful progress in carbon neutrality, absolute carbon emissions must be reduced. One possible approach is to decouple firms' growth trajectories from their emissions. Adopting a supply network perspective, this study examines how firms in different network roles decouple their growth from carbon emissions across all scopes ...
